can someone help to get my car running
can someone help to get my car running
my car has not started in 6 months , ok here it goes i bought a pair of taylor spark plug wires and put them on the was running fine but the headers burned through one of the wire so i went with moroso blue max wire and after i put them on the car would not start i have put some post up about and got some good feed back but nothing has work . so far i put a new battery and battery cables tested the starter and bought some cheap factory fit wires and still nothing . when i turn the key and try to start it all it does is start to crank the engine but it just won't turn over ,if i put the pedal to the floor some times it will start but die if u do not keep your foot on the gas i am thing the fuel pump ,then the alternator but i do not know . i have a 89 camaro with the LB9 and a 5 speed if that helps anyone ...thanks for any input on this topic
CK,
As long as the battery is fully charged, the alternator is irrelevant. The engine should start and run for hours without an alternator on a fully charged battery.
Recheck the firing order and plug wire routings.
Check the fuel pressure and flow.
Make sure you have correct ignition timing.
Report back with results and we'll get your car running.

Pull a plug, reattach the plugwire - lay it on some bare metal on the engine for ground. Watch it while someone cranks the motor, to see if you have any spark.
OR - - - - have your little brother hold it while he touches the motor & you crank it over - he will tell you if you have any spark!

had a very similar promlem.....was a bad fp regulator even though my fp tested fine (it had a tiny pinhole in the diaphram and was flooding the engine to death) mine too happened just out of coincidence with a tune up.....just bad timing...

Maybe you fouled your plugs, have you checked that. Go out and buy a set of plugs and try it if not. Does your car smell like it is flooding when you crank. Are you getting fuel. And also I agree with the above have you checked your firing order.
