Weird Click on 89 GTA

Ok, my friend has an 89 GTA..... he said that a couple of times after a long drive (5-6) hours he heard a weird clicking noise. This weird noise was not at highway speeds, it was when making a turn. He has taken it to several mechanics and they do not see anything wrong with it. Any ideas?

Maybe a collapsed lifter, or the injectors. But I would think either of those would be constant not just after a long drive.

clicking noise

i had a similar problem when i reversed too and it made a clicking/popping noise. It ended up that the person before me put the wrong differential fluid in the rearend.

Does the noise emanate predominantly from the front or rear of the vehicle? (WTF is it comin' from?)

My friend says he couldn't pinpoint exactly where the sound was coming from. I forgot to say that one mechanic had told him that it could have been something to do with the shocks because he has really wide tires. He also called a Pontiac Dealer and they told him "If the noise is not persistent, don't worry about it" thats a load of BS.

Bet it's the posi. Tell him to change the oil, and add the posi fluid.
