Played with some rice today. Had an older guy in a accord(wife in the passenger seat, and kids in the back) pull up next to me at a light. It had a few racing stickers, so i thought i'd see what it had. We jut kindof left the line slow. I wasn't racing at first, then He started to go faster and faster. So I flored it and blew by. Then later, a kid in some ugly import with racing wheels was next to me at a light. I gave him a few revs, and he didn't even have the guts to look over. He was too scared to race, so I just decided to show him what the taillights in a fast car look like.

Later in the day(almost dusk) I pulled up to a park to meet some friends. They were all standing around, so I gave it some revs before shutting down. All the guys were like "holy ****" and ran to my car. IT WAS ACTUALLY SHOOTING FIRE OUT OF THE TIPS!!!. I was pleasantly supprised. Now I can show the rice some fire, and see if they still want to go.

 

Thats cool you got some flames to come out. You'll have to do that sometime when you are cruising around late at night. Sound to me like you need some faster competition if your going 13.2. The flames gotta be a little intimidating.

 

I haven't been to the track yet this year, but i have a new chip now, so i'm hoping for a little better times.

Flames coming out the tips! I would be carefull, even with your setup unless you have done a little rod trick I would think there is a problem My buddy with a 502 Nova runs headers with a 3in. turndown and he don't shoot flames and he is runnin 10's Just showing concern, but if it's safe.... COOL!!!

 

502 in a nova and only running 10's. I would be more concerned about that than flames. With that big of an engine in that light of a car I would hope for better.

 

Flames out the tips is awesome. Man that would be sweet to see.

 

Well, that will make people not tail gate you. But if I saw flames out my exhaust I would be very worried, unless I set it up to do that.

 

It's not a constant thing, just when i rev it high. I think it is mostly because of my cam. It has 224 exhaust duration, and 110# lobe seperation. Its more of a race car type cam than a street one.

 

Ahhh, I see. Now as far as that Nova goes, that is a stock 502 with more miles on it than my great grandmothers Delta 88. That thing sucks azz, eats gas like a college jock chugs beer, and the tranny might as well be a chain and gear off a 10 speed bike. It's just something he messes around in, his car that he drags is a 86 monte SS with a nos breathing 383, runs 6's in the 1/8, he said he hasn't worked up the courage to take it down the quarter yet, but as soon as he gets through his divorce he will start modding the Nova. P.S. That monte don't throw flames out the tips either.
