is my L98 a freak?

just wanted your opinion guys. i went to the track last night to try and get some better #s from my car. i was trying a few new settings for my timing, TPS. fuel pressure, and so on and on my 4th run, i was rewarded. i brought the revs up to 1000rpms, and launched. man! it felt like i was hit from behind by a semi (all hail the L98s low torque curve). i blasted through the quarter mile, and made the turn off. the run felt good, real good. when i read my slip, i was floored... 13.44 at 102.51 with a 1.94 60ft! holy sh*t!!! thats 2 tenths and a half mph quicker than my best previous run! (13.65 at 102.16 with a 2.06 60ft). i backed that run up with another 13.44 at 102.34 with another great 1.95 60ft. i was impressed... i went that fast with a 75k mile L98 auto car with LOW 2.59 gears on street tires! did i also mention i have less that $500 in mods? the engine temp was 155* and i iced my intake between runs. anyone else get these kinda #s from simliar combos or do i have some kind of freak Vette?

I'm so proud,(insert tear drop) you graduated to a better class of driving Seriously, good runs man. Wish I could get my IROC to a 1/4 mile so I could see what it runs, closest one is a two hour drive

How do you guys get such good 60 foots. I could only manage ONE 2.1 and the others were 2.3, 2.4, and 2.5. I know it's not my driving because the tires barely spun. It hooked great and if I bring it up to anything over idle it bogs and runs bad 60 foots. Any advice, TPI.

OH ya BTW great runs looks like you are improving as much as the car!

I'd say, do some suspension work. All the torque in the world isn't going to get you a great short time if you can't plant it to the ground.

How much timing are you running now?

Congrats on the new times, even with DR's, I could only pull a 1.995 60 ft.

base timing (6*), and no drag radials. i run P275/40ZR17 Michelin Piolts. bring the revs to 1000rpms and launch. feels like i was hit by a semi

The Vette L98's are slightly better than the F-Body version. GM doesn't tell us the whole story....

for years ive always heard that the L98s in the fbodies and the Vette were the same (minus the aluminum heads for the Vette), but there seem to be big differences at the track. has anyone with just a K&N, AFPR and catback run 13.4s with a 350 fbody? also, on the TPI board they say 12s are impossible with a stock head, cam, and intake L98 fbody, but it is easy for the Vette version. it cant be just the lower weight and aluminum heads

Gotta be ur driving, i pulled a 2.0 60ft with eagle goodyear h's 245/50/16s. and my car stock is specced to a mustangs 302. but then i put the headers on and about 600 more miles and those h's wouldnt hook for crap. just ordered my nitto drs now tho as i type this. look for some 1.98s to coem oh yea thats about 14.0-14.1 = )

When my car was a lot slower (12.50) I would air the Nittos down to 16lbs hot and do a moderate burn out and come out under power. I would stall up to about 2,000 and let the car come out under its own power. As soon as the front end would begin to settle I would lean into the throttle. I was cutting 1.77 60ft at the worst and 1.70 at the best. Just a technique.

Car: too many ...
I was pulling some very impressive 60ft times last time I went to the track to run 1/4's .. in fact the 60ft is the ONLY thing I can brag about ... actually managed a 1.84 on stock suspension with a 90 Z rear swaybar and a B/W 9 bolt w/ 3.23's and crappy *** tires on the stock 15" wheels. I couldn't believe it!! But yeah like I said the 60ft is the ONLY thing I can brag about cuz my 1/4 was like a 16.2 @ 83 or something pathetic like that. Now you know why I prefer sliding!!!
