going crotch-rocket hunting this w/e

today me and my g/f were out putting applications in at some jobs and i come up to a red light and 3 crotch-rockets surround me. i usually see them about 2 or 3 times a week and today. well they surrounded me, revving up there motors and everything, doing burnouts. so the light turns green and i just ease up (didn't want to race) so after a second or two i just decide to give it a little gas and as soon as my car downshifted i let out of it right then and there. and this is what gets me. one of them motherf***ers stood up on that thing and mooned us. i would've raced if i wasnt in my 91 z28 conv' "which IS stock".

so since i always seem them riding around i figured this weekend i'll bring out my 82 z28 "which is not stock" and go kick some crotch-rocket a**.

I hope your Z is pretty fast. Most of the sport bikes out there are running 12's or better from what i've seen. I'm not into the whole bike vs. car thing. It's stupid if you ask me.

Yea it would have to be pretty quick to take down bikes. They aren't slow by any means. At the track they were running 10s stock. Not really much competition with bikes vs. cars because they are too fast.

You won't be beating any real street bikes anytime soon. If it was a GSX-R you wouldn't have a snowball's chance in hell. Keep the Z in the garage and save yourself the embarassment of getting mooned again.

Better have a 10 second car or better if you wanna try racing bikes. Any decent bike/rider will run minimum 12s, I've seen a stock ninja do about a 9.6 in street trim.

your z best be well into the elevens to be able to stay with those guys. Even the most underpowered heaviest crotch rockets run deep into the 12's. That is why i am going to be buying one sometime in the future.

Racing a Sport Bike on the 1/4 mile is one thing ... racing them on the street is an entire different beast. Its not only the power/weight ratio advantage, its just the manuverability (wow big word!). They can weave in and out of lanes way faster than a car could. But hey if you've got the power then go for it. Its not impossible to smoke a Sport Bike on the freeway ... as Walserrz Supra can show you:

Walserrz smoking a modded GSXR1000

Walserrz smoking a Hayabusa

I can only imagine what the faces of those Sport Bike owners looked like .... I'm sure Monty would rip up any bikes he might find on the street (I'm sure Monty would rip up Walserrz Supra too! hehe).

yea bikes are fast and if iim ever rich im owning a supra...but uh i know a few LS1s taht can take them out that are running low 12s so some of the 600s or 700s run high 12s. obviously the 1200cc run 9s but how many of those do u see?? its like seeing a Z06.

GSXRs are very light bikes and are not the norm. Ninja and Katana which are the most common 600s weigh about 100lbs or more. GSXRs are race bikes pure and simple. Second there are a TON of 1000+ cc bikes out there that will all run 11s with the most green rider. If you get really pissed you can always just hit them off the line, because bikes do have a hard time launching right off the line well.

GSXR's are mostly the only bikes I ever see..

Also there is a guy locally with an 89 formula who will on alot of occassions go pick on the guys running the 9 second bikes. But when you have a 406 that runs 11.0-10.60 on motor and somewhere in the 9's on the giggle gas you can do that.

I don't know if anybody has said anything about it, but there is also the risk of hitting one of them and at those speeds he would be dead

well...like everyone said ur toast...

but some info here

the R6 does the 1/4 in 10's
R1 does it in something like low 10's

both those bikes are light as hell
365 pounds ...
im talkin about the 2001+
(they both rev upto 14000 easy)
plus i havent seen any with stock exhaust whatsover its always a D&D/yoshimura/Eiron exhaust ..which makes it even better (spend another 200 and get a jet calibration kit and its mean as hell)

the prev models (called genesis 1000/YZF1000) all were over 400 pounds ...but still do very good 1/4's

even the GSXR 600 will smokoe u bad ...from a stop / from a roll

most bikes have 100+hp with a weight like 400 pounds ...

I raced one in my iroc and we were even. Until he downshifted and put about 8 car lenghs or more on me as he was pulling a wheelie at 45. We raced from a roll at about 30. I was like damn im doing pretty good then I hear vrmmmmmmmmmmmm as he downshifts into whatever gears and leaves my *** in the dust. I only run mid 13s, but still.

when i had my suzuki GS500 (2002model, woulda still had it if the guy didnt renig on the deal with me.) But i raced a friend of mines 98 stang and i blew him away untill i was like in 5th the he sucked me up quicklike. Of course that bike maxes out at no more that 130 with a 150lb rider on it. I maxed it in 6th gear at like 4000 rpm's and that was all it had. But it was quick in the take off....just wandering if anyone knows what those bikes doing in the 1/4. It had the front fairing to if that helps on windresistance any.

Fine a 383 with a 200 shot of nitrous and a 8-71 blower.

Um why would such a thing lose

add 400 pounds to 400 pound bike that you already have thats 800 lbs, put a low gear on in..

ive seen NA 383 strokers do low mid 11 in the quarter mile and thats IN A CAR!

You will be beat but you can still get even. If one starts to moon you just kinda let your car "accidentilly" drift towards him as he is standing up. Or get a passenger to door checkem. Bikes are fast and there is no reason they should be harassing people like that.

the big one has a 502 chevy in it.

incredible machine. it does sound like a car
saw one run a 7.36 @178 mph 1/4 mile on a dynometer.
insane!!!!!!!!
it only has 3 speeds reverse, fast and faster!!!
the second time he ran it it didn't shift gears and it ran mid 9s!!!!!!

Screw the 383, has anyone ever heard of the BOSS HOSS? You can get it with either a 350 or a BIG BLOCK 502ci Chevy. Now thats a bike.

on the speed channel this morning i saw a bike that Jay Leno owns.
it's a crotch rocket with a helocopter engine in it. looks like a normal sport bike but it has a jet engine in it. sounds like one too. he gets about 1000 degrees coming out of the tail pipe and it has been known to melt car doors.
i only saw the end of it and the bike was putting out about 450 ft lbs of tourqe. it runs "9s" but estimated top speed is around 260mph!!!!!!!!!!!
the licker is it has a 2 sec delay after you thottle it, that takes something to get used too.

while we are on the subject of v8 bikes. i have sat on a few. the tank is like 2 and a half foot wide! its definatly crazy! i live in southwest missouri and boss hoss company isnt to far away. cant remeber where at tho. but there is also a oklahoma or missouri company that makes v8 bikes too. its either spelled kannon or cannon. i think the first but not sure. one of the companys is in missouri and the other oklahoma i think but not sure. not real into bikes but my cousin works at a harley shop and owns a 1200cc or 1300cc (cant remember) buell race bike the thing is crazy!

hey you guys want to **** off some biker dudes???? at a red light make sure no car is around put your foot on the brakes and justt peel out like crazy until the light turns green, leave them in smoke and race away. Do it with like 2 or more of your friends so they have no contest. heh heh heh that's what I would do.

my dad used to race his 84 suzuki (1000 cc turbo @ 25 psi and water/alcohol injection) on the street. He had a few tricks up his sleeve if people tried anything dangereous. He would carry a small squirt bottle of Ammonia (sp?) that he would spray onto the windshield if he was in front (hit the wipers and u cant see foo!) and a 3 pound lead ball that he would throw (backhand style) and aim for the window. but this was only if someone was trying to hit him or run him off the road. I wouldn't do anything to someone on a bike because if they do crash its not a joke.

true man, unless your life is in danger don't mess with bikes on the road, when they are stopped then it's up to you, I knew a person that fell off a bike at like, I don't know it wasn't fast but he had scarse all over his arms, not a pretty sight either. but if your life IS in danger, two words "MAD MAX" no offense to anyone
