If its a regular firebird I assume it has the LO3 and in stock form they are 16 sec cars (low or high I don't know) so I guess you may be able to out run some slow imports.

Just turbo that 5.0 liter TBI and then you don't have to worry about many imports at all. Or just take out the 305 and (yes you all know what I'm going to say) install a carb. 350 or 400, I would suggest 400. I just don't think there is any way you can get that 305 to the speed you want without more cubes. Like 101 more (406 , 400 bored .030 over)

I'd say not to waste money on that idea. Many other problems, that will be encountered.

Just new cam and heads would help a lot.

yep, the short block is the only thing worth even thinking about saving on the L03. Smog engine does not equal race engine.

its not as simple as it sounds, just adding a turbo isn't as easy as that...

Oh ok I agree. I thought that maybe you didnt think that TBI is an injection setup that can be turbo'd.

I wouldnt turbo a L03 but Dodge put out some Colt 100's ( I think they were 100's) that were hot air turbo 2.2 TBI's in the late 80's and damn I saw one running 13.6 at the track

I thought they were Omni's, or Horizons. Turbo goes on real easy when both manifolds are right next to each other. Those Daytona's with the Shelby turbo kit and Lotus heads were little screamers.

No I thought the Omni's and Horizons used Port fuel injection. Well maybe not, they might have had TBI too.
