Did I get sprayed on or what?

Friday there was a big car show in my town.Like all 4 towns around me had a big festival deal and a car show was part of it.SO there was alot of nice cars out friday night.

I drive a big chevy 3/4 ton truck with a 350 bored .030 over.Other than that it was a stock rebuild.(I know it doesn't add power)Anyway I have flowmaster 40 series on it.So it sounds mean.

My buddy and I caught a redlight togother. So we took off chriping the tires.Well a new dakota r/t 5.9 comes up right behind me.So I punch it and my buddy gets out of the way.I slow down and he gets right next to me.We catch a redlight and go.I pulled him till about 40 mph. Then I heard a psst psst psst.It was really loud and scared the crap out of me.Then his truck got a really deep tone to it and just left me.He did this twice.

What happened what did he do?My buddy has a 5.0 stang with Nitrous but his car doesn't make that noise.Could he have been getting the air out of the nitrous lines or what?

What does it take for a carbed 350 in a 3rd gen to run with Dakota's r/ts?I am building an 86 and while I don't plan on running it on the street.I would like to know I could take one should I ever line up with one.

Hmm, I know cars with n20 will have a line that vents out some n20 or something. But that's usually before they're racing.

You need a 350 to beat Dakota 5.9s but i do know a few dakotas that are spraying, seems to be the thing to do with those cars. they are partially quick, but not all that fast. if u build a 350 you should take one with some decent gearing, i think the R/T 5.9 runs mid 14s at best.

im not exactly an expert on NO2, but from what i've been told. it's a good idea to clean the lines or somthing? is purging the word??? if so he might of been doing that a few times, and then just let it go. but i could be way the hell off, cuz im dumb when it comes to nitrous stuff. maybe talk to some of the people on the power adder area and ask about spraying???

"Purging" is the act of releasing some of the nitrous into the atmosphere. The intent is to rid the line feeding the motor of any N2O in vapor form, and ensure that the line has nothing but nice, cold, LIQUID N2O in it.

purging- removes air and impurities from the nitous system to allow a more consistent flow and make more power..... from the sound you described thats what it was. if you want to see what it sounds like theres a movie on this site of a black camaro with nitrous and he purges his system before the run. watch that and tell us if thats the sound you heard.

I thought you couldn't purge your system on the go. I thought you had to do that before hand.

That is what I understood to.U had to purge the system. That is what I thought it was doing.I just didn't want to say that was what it was doing.

I don't know why he thought he needed it though my truck is 4wd with 33 inch tires. It used to be a 5 speed but I put a 7--r4 in it and don't have the wiring harness for it yet.So I have no overdrive the truck does at the most 100mph and it is screamin.(I don't do it much)

My computer is all messed up.So I doubt I will be able to watch the movie. But it sounded like someone disconnecting an air compressor hose 3 times real fast.Kinda crazy.

Thanks for the info.

My Best Bud has the R/T, built out the butt, He runs mid 13's with sticky tires. He's big on Mopar and Mopar trucks, and he's totally against nitrous and the effects he says it has on the engines. Not sayin that the encounter that you had wasn't in fact, an act of nitrous. That's what it sounds like it was. As for what you'd need to run with one of these unlikely monsters,.....try a well built 350........better yet.....how bout a 396,.......hmmmmmm.......... or a 427..............

The purge solenoid is connected to the Nitrous solenoid so whenever the bottle is open you can purge. It gets all of the extra air out of the line so that as soon as the nitrous sprays there is no delay. I purge all the time when I am cruising around
