The Yellow Submarine

A guy around here has a 5.0 GT Mustang with skinnies on the front and some fat tires on the back like 275's, Dual Flowmaster Mufflers with Dumps and Headers I believe, oh yeah and a standard tranny, I have an L98 GTA with a 700R-4, bald back tires on the back, shaky front end badly in need of an alignment and new tires all around, I just changed the motor oil, and plan to dump a can of Sea Foam in the Tranny after a Tranny Fluid Flush and the B&M Shift Kit are installed, I am also going to put an SLP Cold Air Intake and do a tune up this weekend....Do you all think that with all the upcoming needed mods, I will be able to take him, the thing makes alot of noise and is always reving me!let me know.....thanks....AARON

eehhhh, if your car is in good running condition when you race it probably will be a drivers race. although you said he had big tires on the back....makes me think he has more done than just exhaust...though i could be wrong...

Umm, ok. You have bald back tires and you wanna know if you can win. No, no , no. Don't dump any additive crap into the tranny. And don't get the B&M kit. IF you really want to help your tranny get the TransGo kit, you can find more info about it by searching the tranny board.

sounds like you should wait on the shift kit and buy some new rear tires. It wont be a race if you are setting at the starting line spinning your bald tires. just my .02 cents.

I wouldnt worry about fat tires too much. There is a kid around here with a 73' Camaro. He has fat tires in the back with skinnies up front and a cowl hood that goes up about 3 inches. I got to talking to him one day and asked him what he had under the hood thinking it was something special. Turns out it was an unmodded 305. Well at least it looks fast.

It all depends on the tires. I have 275s out back and I only cut a 2.05 60'! I would assume (unless you know for a fact) he has gears, and small bolt-ons. Watch out for the bolt-on Mustangs, with fat tires out back and a great launch they have been known to go in the 12s. Not saying this particular car can or ever will, but do you think you could run with a 12 second car???

Ya, 1/8 (in about 8 seconds!!!). Seriousely though, it is so hard to tell how fast a car is by looking at it, especially a fox body Mustang!!! I always expect the worst and hope for the best!
