84 Z-28 vs. 81 Z-28

Down at the local "track" there was a race going on last night, An 84 Z28 with the HO 305 and I believe he had a 5 spd versus an 81 Z28 with the 350, His tranny type I wasn't sure of. Anywayz, They take off and the 81 got him off the start but after that, It was all over!!! The 84 won by about 4 cars or so. Nice smooth running car, The 81 Z owner was ashamed but I reassured him that the HO's were pretty quick, Aren't they guys?? Well I must jet now, Laters

stock for stock the 81 is giving up 30 hp from the start. The 350 from 81 I believe was only 160 ho wtih the 305 HO being 190.

'84 L69 Z's stock are ballpark mid to low 15's. But the '81 Z with the 350 was a sorry excuse for an engine only 175 horse and only available with an automatic. But the L69 came with 190 horse and a 5 speed w/ 3.73's. That would explain the race.

Later, Garrett

I'm surprised the HO got taken off the line with having 3:73s. Then again we don't know what has been done to the '81.

As far as I know, The 84 Z is stock while the 81 only has headers. As for that, Nothing else is done to them.

Surprised.....

Anyone with the T-5 and 3.73 setup is definately not surprised to get worked off the line.....

Wheelspin is emminent, especially when you mod the L69. No POSI on those 3.73's either. If you have those stock 15x7's then it's even more of a bastard to launch these cars. I have Gta wheels/sticky rubber/and 255's spin like a mother. I almost always get beat in first but after the powershift it's over. Kinda like how he described.

Can't wait for the traction mods!!!!

In 1981 the only way you could get a 350 was with a TH350. The T-10 4 speed was only available on the 305 after 1980. Got to love those smogs regulations.

No, the 81's did not come with th350. At least not all of them. 81 was the year they started adding the computers to the Camaro's. They only had th250 or something like that. My buddy has one with a beefed up 350 and that trans robs so much horsepower from the motor it's not funny.

Come on now you two, all the freakin' time you guys are at each other's throats. Maybe we should just set up a Flame board so you guys would stop screwing up the Street Racing boards.

I wish that Jocww would just get over it and Camaro_1986_19 would just learn that Jocww is going to keep ripping on him as long as it bothers him.

Seriously maybe a flame board would be a good idea that way when these two get going we could just move the post over to that board. And that way we could all just go over to that board every once in a while for a good laugh.

Or maybe not, Later, Garrett

Flame board is a good idea. If this were a flame board, mine would go like this:

Are you two dating? Did you get her flowers, camaro? looks like you got a little sand in your vagina jocww

But this isn't a flame board, so I won't say that.

The 81 Z28 most certainly did come with the TH350. All the CCC does is control the lock up canverter (it functions in 2nd and 3rd gear). The 80-81 Z28s were among the prettiest cars of all time. Too bad they were so slow .

Well now it's done then Jocww you have voiced your opinion on Camaro_1986_19, It's over. So now no more with the flames OK, and I don't want you to bring up a Topaz in another board unless unless Camaro_1986_19 brings it up and starts braging, then you can go to town but only if he brings it up.

Besides everyone already knows you two don't like each other.

Later, Garrett

Hey I tell ya what, a buddy and I are opening our new website, MotorSport Connection ( http://www.motorsportconnect.com ), on November first. We're going to have a Fight Room board, for Import vs. Domestic, F-body vs. Mustang, etc. Maybe you two can rip into each other there.

Okay, I'm done whoring it now, hehe.

I will agree, Camaro_1986_19, second gens look sweet (I prefer second gen trans ams myself though... :: drool :: ), but I'll take my thirdgen.

I would love to have a deep black second gen t/a with a gold outline bird on the hood.

Come on you guys I know the '81 Z's are cool but nothing compares to the style and Power of a '70 1/2 Z/28 with a 402 and Split Front bumper. Sweet :hail: Sweet

I really like the late 2nd gens also. I hope some day to be able to have a 350 4 speed car. I just love the thirdgen road grip , MPG and power.
