Alright, I'm not a big street racer so I'm not gonna know a whole lot but let me tell you, I took my Camaro against a Civic today, no bets or anything just foolin around. My car isn't the fastest in the world but it can hold its weight, and let me tell you that Honda didn't have the highest top speed but it accelerated like a beast.

I take it you have no clue what's under the hood. If it's stock then it shouldn't be a challenge but if it's modified be prepared for anything.

i wouldnt be to worried, its prob stock with maybe a cold air, and some colored wires under the hood, you have 4 times the mote twice the horsepower and a billion time the amount of torque he has....as long as your cars in good running shape it should be no contest..i wouldnt worry about it, i had the same deal some guy with a honda wouldnt tell me what was done till after we raced, and it turned out all he had done was cold air and a 40inch muffler...

Okay, I'll answer your question but this is gonna be sad. I have an '87 convertable camaro with a V8 engine. Its not an IROC or anything so I don't know where the engine came from but somehow it's there.

The sad part is I got this car recently from my dad and I have no clue what's under the hood of my own car. I'm not that big of a mechanical guy so I can't tell much about my very own engine just from lookin at it. From driving and performance though, it can do about 6 to 7 seconds from 0-60 mph depending on road surface.

Ya I know it's pathetic I don't know a whole lot about my own car...

-edit-
What I do know though is that most of those "souped up" or "riced" Honda's are mostly loud exhuast and paint decals.

the fastest stock Civic is the SI model. it runs high 15s with a good driver. anything not nitroused/supercharged/turboed should be no problem for your 350 TPI car

Yup, easy kill for you. It really takes a good driver with a stick to drive those Civics good. And let's just say most those guys can't drive worth a dik prolly.

yea if you have a 5.7 and he has no power adder (ie turbo, supercharger, or NOS) then he is dead.

'87 was the last year of the LG4 and it came with 170 Hp... So, considering convertables are heavier than coupes, I'd say it would run 16.0 with an LG4/L03 to 15.0 with TPI 5 spd

Civic coupes come around 16.5-16.7 stock... not too bad, but that takes someone that understands where the power band is and how to launch... with all possible bolt ons I would say that he could hit 15.8 or so... engine swap and it's anybody's game... it could probably run 14.0 with a type R motor ($7,000+).

As for a 5.7L Camaro, light mods could make you competitive with that Type-R motor... mind you that no coupe came as a type R, the only true Type-R's are right-hand drive Hatchbacks.

Since the gs-r's and si's are about the same I thought id chime in. last year in highschool a kid w/ a gs-r, just cat-back and intake ran 14.6@9x on a 2.2 60' and I know its true cause about fifty kids from my school saw him do it. And a kid i used to work with ran 14.9 in his si w/ a cai only. Both of these kids are damn good drivers. Just a warning for ya, some are not slow(not slow meaning they can actually hit 14's n/a lol)

mmm... I wouldn't be concerned in any race against a civic or integra... I would give it my all, expecting to completly dust em.... If they beat me then they get props anyhow, I see it as win win... it is impressive to see a sleeper honda... not many of those punks really knows their *** from their elbow, and even the ones that have someone mod the car for them correctly (more than CAI and catback) then they knew enough to go further than those two accessories and in my book they become lagit.

Race him off the line just to be sure.. If it is a modded SI, he MIGHT be able to keep up at highway speeds. But you would DESTROY him off the line..

Shouldn't have any problem with any N/A civic...

O, forgot to mention, that Civic that I was foolin' around with, it wasn't a straight up race from a stop. I just happened to pass him really fast and he though I was racing so he hit the gas. Since I didn't want my Camaro to look retarded I hit the gas too. He caught up to me and almost passed me but then he hit his top speed in the Civic and my Camaro had a higher top speed so I just started cruisin' past him.

And on the issue of my engine, I can check the VIN number but I don't think it's stock. My speedometer only goes up to 85 and I know for a FACT it can go much higher. The little needle just starts to go up around the circle again but gets stuck at an odometer pin or somethin.

The 85 speedo was stock for most cars, even the trans ams and z28's. It was a measure set in place by the government to discourage people from going above that speed... the speedo will just bounce up and down on the trip meter **** when it gets there... so the 85 speedo wasn't in place on only slow cars... just domestics in general.
