Best race youh ave been in

Well I havent been able to take my car out since of the weather here is ****ty as a toilet after a fat man eats mexican. So lets all remember the best race you have ever had, could be some r^icer or could be a 454 Nova. I(as well as most others) perfer an actual race, not the senseless beating of a dipshiit in a Z-06 that cant drive.

Well since I started the thread, I will post my best race. I was out cruising with my "posse"(TGP and TSi) and I was at a light with a Fox-body 5.0. Had some nice sounding exhaust, about the same as mine was, so I revved at him, was not the smartest thing, he looked over and smiled. My freind behind me flashed his highbeams at me as if in warning, but I didnt pay attention. So he revs back and the light turned, we both spun our tires a bit and he hooked before me, and took me out of the hole, when I hooked he stopped gaining large amounts on me. I would say up to about 80-85 he might have pulled maybe a car or a car and a half on me. We pulled over and talked, he said he had some exhaust, intake and he had a few other mods, I forget now, but he said that with a little prep he had hit consistently very low 14's to 13.7's were his best os far. My freind had flashed his beams at me because he thought that the Stang had been one that he had seen before that was s/c. But he also forgot I had more mods. So I think I would pull possible mid to low 14's on good day and some decent tires.

Wow, my story was not 2 pages long, that is a first.

mine happened about 30 minutes ago.

I went out to the 1/8 mile track but got there late and only got in 1 run. I ended up with:

2.17 60'
8.65 1/8
@84.4 mph

That is .1 secs faster than my 1/8 on friday, yet 1 mph slower, and I didnt even uncap the exhaust

Anyway, after I get back home I head down to the local hangout and after a while a black '01 WS6 rolls in. I'm talking to the guy and he had MTI Stage 2 heads, LS6 intake, X-1 cam, I think he said FLP longtubes, 3200 Vigilante stall in a built auto trans, a Moser 12 bolt with 3.73's, Nittos, oh yeah, and a TNT wet 100 shot. Then he asks me if I want to run for fun, I said sure, and jokingly asked if he was going to supply the vaseline as well. So we head out to the race spot.

First run: dead stop, I honk. no nitrous. He launches good, I bogged pretty bad, didnt launch at a high enough rpm. He ends up with about 4 lengths on me.

Second run: 40ish roll, no nitrous, first time I've ever kicked the rear out in third. We run up to well over 100. at the launch, I jump 1/2, he makes it up and pulls 1/2 on me. As I'm nearing the top of 4th, I'm VERY slowly pulling back up on him How does that work???

Third run: 20 roll. I get a perfect launch, he sprays me. pulls over 6 lengths on me. :hail:N20!!!

We talked a while when we got back and he said that he dynod 550/560 AT THE WHEELS on spray, and that he was only running a 100 shot due to a stock short block. He also said we were both ***** to the wall all three races, so he wasnt just playing with me on the second run. The reason he sprayed me on the third run was because he thought I sprayed on him on the second, which I didnt. Now I've seen plenty of wierd outcome street races, but this just astounds me. He should have straight up handed me my *** on a silver platter all three times because I am no where near 400 hp at the wheels, I would be very impressed if I had 400 at the crank. Yet I stayed within 1/2 a length well past 100! Wierd stuff. not that I'm complaining

109mph shows that you're probably close to 400hp at the crank, maybe a bit over.

This was last summer. For whatever reason, I really had the itch to race, so I started crusing around on a strip about 15 minutes from where I live, that I've seen a lot of fast cars cruise on. Sure as ****, I get behind a Grand National. We mess around a little, trying to get side by side at a light. About two blocks up, we catch a red light. Give eachother the nod, light changes, and we're off. I held 1st a little too long, but stayed with him through second, and by the middle of third gear, I was pulling on him. We had to shut down cause some people started to cross the street and for whatever reason stopped walking in the middle. I didn't get a chance to talk to the guy, but he had a cat-back exhaust at the very least. It was a good race. Really reassured me that my combo was working right. This was before the new tranny, converter, flowmasters, and suspension work, BTW.

Hmm...best race I've been in. There are so damn many. The first comes to mind is when I was in my friends WS6 vs. 5.0 with bolt ons + supercharger 20psi with NOS vs Z06 405 with long tubes and stuff. I have the vid but its freakin 60 megs. Me and my friend began to pull on hard on both then the Z06 hits 3rd and he pulls The stang ended up being a couple cars back. Words cant explain this...we were doin bout 150+ on 101. it was a RRuuuush

best race... was vs a viper... yea my car is no where near it.. I was just amazed that he wanted to race me... i nearly shat myself... anyway... here it goes.. im at a light, and i look in my rear view mirror really quick.. and i see these big lights, with huge circle fog lights and really low to the ground... i thought to myself... nahh couldnt be... i looked agian.. and there she was.. .big red viper.. i rolled down my window and gave a guy the thumbs up for the sweet ride (and the hot chick in the car)... i guess he thought that ment that i was up for some street racin... so he reved at me... i looked at him like wtf are u thinking?... soo i rolled up the window and power braked it to around 2k.... light went green, and i was off with with a little bark... i just keep it floored... i looked to my side to see the viper, but no viper... i looked back in my mirror.. hes still at the light... either stalled out or still tryin to find traction... i got up to 55-60 and stopped... my exit was about to come up... and right as i put on my blinker... i hear this loud rummble.. and then blam! viper doin well over 70 past me... i dont count that as a win or a loss... i call that a little embarassment on his part... y bother with a lil old car like mine and then not know how to drive it... i know vipers are tuff to hook, but this guy was sittin there for some time.. which makes me think that he stalled out... whatever.. thats the best race i had...

For me, a close race is a good race. For instance, the Crown Victoria vs. Pontiac Paisienne with a 307. Three times in a row I beat him. It was nice and close though.
And a race against a newer WS6 in the Crown Vic. Okay, we all know that is a lie. For the first second, I did okay. I was losing, but at least it looked good. After that I was destroyed. But that first second, light changed and I jumped out a few inches ahead. Then it was over.

Yep, close races are always the best. I had a three-way versus a '95 5.0 vert and a '94 Cobra. Both cars have full exhaust and probably a few other mods that I don't know about. We went from a 20 roll, me on the inside, vert in the middle and Cobra on the outside. Three honk and we hit it. Me and the Cobra pull past the vert like he's in reverse. So its just me and the Cobra, dead even all the way up to 110 where we shut down. Never looked in my mirror so I don't know what happened to the vert. I've raced this same Cobra about five times with pretty much the same thing happening. Two times though he did pull on me past 100.

My buddies 1995 Firebird with an LS1 motor out of a 1999 trans am... Sometimes he wins and sometimes i win... We always raced on motor, but once e decided to run nitrous to nitrous, he was running a 150shot to my 125 shot, he has 3.73s to my 3.42 gears... I was on street tires and he was on nittos so he gave me the jump.... He passed me by a car, to 50, but then by 60ish i caught up and passed, by 105 he got next to me and we went all the way up to 155 dead even...

My best race so far was the '03 cobra I killed.

We were both on street tires, and both had traction issues off the line.

0-60mph - we were dead even
70-90mph - I pulled a length and a half
90-110mph - I stopped pulling on him, but he didnt make up any ground.

The guy thought he was going to blow me out of the water. I kept looking over at him when we were even (it seemed like forever) and he looked very pissed. After the race he was fuming...most likely because I took $150 from him.

I guess I dont blame him. He really did think my car was stock.

I ran dead even with a GSXR 750 from 60-170. The other best was two weeks ago at the track. There was a modded Viper ACR there running high elevens @ 121. He has 461rwhp and 501rwtq. His tq curve starts at 2,200@425 and goes up from there. Any way we line them up and he gets me by a fender the first time. The next time I got him by a fender.
Me Him
.508----------------.670
1.85----------------1.97
7.82---------------- xxx
93.14---------------94.56
12.03---------------12.00
116.42-------------121.06
win
.306
Those are the exact numbers on my time. And that is the exact 1/4 for him. The rest is by memory. So don't do the math and start flaming. It is my best race because I out drove him on some 245 Khumo aquatreads. See the faster car doesn't alwayse win. He was a really cool guy. I will have alot more for him when I get my problems fixed.

I was down on RT22 in the bound brook area in my 95 formula. As I'm merging on to RT22 off of 287 I see a new Yellow GT. ( I think either a 98-99 not sure dont really know my stangs but it was the newer body style like they are now) So I tuck in behind him for a bit and there are no cars infront of us and we come up to a light that starts to turn yellow. So I move into the right lane and we just look at each other. Light goes green and we both nail it, we stayed dead even with each other for the entire race up to about 115-120. It was my first street race ever and it was quite a rush. I was very proud of my little ole LT1. It was all stock and an A4. I have only raced one other time since then and that was in my 01 WS6 against a 02 GT.

79 Firebird. with a 400SBC in it and a 80's Camaro. I am not sure what kind of Camaro it was other than it was a third gen. It was primer grey.

The 79 TA smoked the crap out of the third gen. It was disturbing. After the light we were about 4 or more car lengths ahead of him.

Had to be about a year ago we were out at the street races and i had my primed black 85 z28 and this older mustang called me out. at first i did not want to run him cause my car was not the fastest thing out there. little ol 305 ci. so for some reason i said ok.

we pull up to the line and we take off we were about even through first gear by second i was a good 1 1/2 cars in front of him 3rd gear about 3 cars it was over after that. so we turn around and he says one more? im laughing saying sure so you can spray now? so we do it again and same results

he pulls me over and swares i had 350 under there i said no i don't need to bull**** around it's a 305 out of of a 80 camaro he did not wanna hear it and went home.

I guess my favorite race is my last one. At the 1/8 mile track on last Saturday, final run, I line up against a mitsubishi eclipse with nitrous. Well heck this should be interesting. I had run a 8.7 something on my previous run with new borla catback and 52mm tb since my last outing. So its just about sunset and theyve closed the stagin lanes because it gets cold here after sunset in the winter, so nice cold air. I get a .65 or so light and jump out to a good lead with a 60' time of 1.9 something. I got it mashed to the floor and am thinking, haaaaaaaaaaaa stupid imports. All of a sudden, woosh, I dont normally look to the side to see the other car but this scares the crap out of me because he came from nowhere. Freakin spray. I honestly couldnt tell who won its that close. I get my time slip and its 8.65 or so, best time of my life, and the word "WINNER" appears at the bottom on my side. I pull around the exit lane and keep right on going out the gate and down the freeway to my house, singing along with the radio, that Tom Petty/Johnny Cash song, "I won't back down" haha. Well it was a nice ride home.

Good job. I see, that I am definitely going to need to get some heads...Got a nice cam...

That Cutlass should end up being a might quicker than the 260 v8/3 speed Auto/2.29 that was in there originally...Looks like the 2.29 in going to hang out a while though...unless I can change that at a low price.

What kind of cam did you get?

(It just occured to me that the difference between talking about real cars and real tuning and modifying...and the clown-fake-sticker-can crap is drastic yet the conversation can easily be swayed that direction. Take the question above. Here it is in clown form.)

Re: "What kind of cam did you get?"

i dont know what kind of cam was put in it my dad had it done for christmas......he has been a mechanic for general motors for 17 years now!...he did the work on the cam and never had time to get the heads on so i did that myself!....i love working on my car!

does anyone have a sample of there ride running with open headers?.....i wanna know how loud that would be!

my best friend just bought a 1984 olds cutlass supreme....he is putting in a 454 with all performance partswe r gonna get started on that later this week....think i might have a chance with the weight difference and him having traction problems?

let me know! thanx

If you want to know how loud open headers are. Stand in your living room with someone and turn up the stereo until you can barely hear each other shouting. That's how loud a decent open header engine is at idle. It's about 10,000 times louder at WOT. Top Fuel cars literally shake the ground. I don't know if you've ever been to an NHRA event or NASCAR, but I recomend it.

Best race...hmm...

Although I wasn't the one driving, my brother has a 76 datsun z w/ a chevy 327, and one night we were out cruising and some guy in prolly a 2000+ year cobra wanted to race. So pretty much we left him standing at the light. He pulled up next to us a little bit after that at a light and his excuse was that he had no traction, so we let him go off the line first and once he started moving we gave it to him again. Then he got into the right turn lane and took off.

Before I rebuilt my engine, I only had about 185 horses and I would strugle to keep up with my friend's LG4. I ran a 16.3 @84. Then I tore into the engine and breathed new life into it. with the new setup I ran a 14.8@93. That run I raced a 5.0 stang. I was a little nervous b/c I ran a 15.8 and a 14.8 before my final run. I beat his 15.9 no problem. When I was returning my rented helmet, the driver of the 5.0 was talking to his friend. his friend asked him "What happened?" all he said was "I have no idea, he was really fast." I didn't think I was really fast but it made me feel good considering my dad and I built the entirecar ourselves. Now I kick my friends' a$$es regularly! HAHAHA!
