Raced a wicked stang...

I knew i would loose but thought what the hell, when I pulled up and saw skinny lil tires up front and et streets in the back i knew i was done for, this thing sounded saweet too..it looked to be an 88ish 5.0 conv, light turns green and we both go I think he was through the intersection before i let the clutch out...Im not worried about it, Ill race anything just to see it run...sure was one wicked *** stang though, i wish i could have talked to him to see what he had done and what he ran cuz i think he must have been doing 100 before i hit 75

The Mustangs are great in that way. 13 second cars, and 10 second cars (or 8 second cars in Lee Howie's case!) can and do look the same. I have run bigs and littles on the street before and I have nothing super in my car. That GT sounded like he had some nice mods, but that is the mystique (if you could call it that) of the 5.0s!

I wouldnt limit that to just 5.0s, I know you werent specifically limiting that to 5.0s I just had to razz you about it.
I love it when a car looks almost stock but is fast as hell. I dont care if it is an import or domestic. Someone putting pure power into their car with little regards as to how it looks is awesome. ITS ALL ABOUT THE POWER BABY!
Hey 5.0mustang, when are you gonna get some new track times?

The tracks are closed, but I will be dynoing at Dez's this April, and then I should have some new times! This definately applies to all cars, but it would be hard to do it to an import because hiding an intercooler (which most need to go fast) is tough! It applies to the thirdgens just as much but near me, there aren't very many sleeper thirdgens!

It's tough to get any V8 to be a sleeper, a cam and/or exhaust relieves it of the title. The best sleeper IMO is a turbo regal, non grand national, because they are ugly, fast as a GN, and no hugh cam or exhaust.

Turbo cars are the best sleepers...like my friends GT...600 ft lbs of torque w/stock cam. It just sounded like a 5.0 with exhaust. His new combo should be a little nastier though... .563/.542 216/212, TFS heads, TFS intake...we're expecting somewhere in the neighborhood of 700 hp with a smooth idle.

Plus a turbo helps quiet the exhaust down, but when the turbo spools, or the waste gate opens, that sleeper goes out the door!

Nobody said it was a sleeper. 5.0 said it was cool about mustangs cause they can look the same and run 10s-13s then I kind of turned into a sleeper talk.

There is a guy in town with a 30something and a blown and juiced 502 with street slicks and a wheely bar. Never have seen him race but he reved it for me and OH MY ***. I love cars like that.

Some days you get the fast Mustangs...and some days you get 15 second 5.0's wearing welds and are bone stock except for no converters or mufflers

More of those ones these days than the quick ones.
