me vs a cobra

I ran one of my best friends tonight and it was fun. He has a 1980 Cobra with a stroked out 331. The motor porbably has 7k in it and has gone through 3 heads/cam/intake matches. I think he has mid 12's if he gets traction. He has lots of suspension mods, and 275's (drag radials) in the back. Before I put on the supercharger, I would get him from a stop and he wouldn't be able to catch me, and from a roll, he would just walk away.

I still don't have my car fully tuned after the supercharger (running pretty rich), and only have subframe connectors as suspension parts go and 255 street tires out back along with a 135lb passenger with me. Tonight, I raced him 4 times. Twice from a stop and twice from a roll. From a roll, I pulled on him both times, but the first time he got the jump so I had to play catch up. From a stop, the first time I walked away and kept putting car lengths between us. The second time, I got in it a bit too much and swerved left to right so I had to get off and then got on it again, then finally got to pull a bit on him again but never got my nose past him on that one. All in all, I am pleased with the gains of the supercharger, but know that once tuned and once I have my ram air installed on it with traction goodies, it'll be that much better!

lmao @ your buddy having $7k into his motor and only running mid 12's. I've got less than $3k into mine.

Let me remind you that he has gone through 3 heads/cam/intake changes with that money, and now has a super nice bullet proof motor that can easily handle a 200 shot of Nitrous and has less than a thousand miles on it. Try doing that with $3,000

No big deal! What does he have in this bullet proof motor. What heads, cam, and intake, what internals? I hope he used newer parts in that car, because in the early 80s, the Mustangs could not hanlde what a newer fox could!

I assure you everything is new I am not sure of all the parts, but if he is interested in telling you, I'll let you know.

Good races. Too bad he has that motor in an '80 Mustang. He should throw it into an 89 LX then he could take you. I like the part in your sig about going sideways and then catching up. Nice touch. Keep the wins coming for the 3rd gens man.

lol, thanks! The part in my sig is when I raced a sprayed newer GT.

Those LX's sure are light, but I wouldn't suggest he ever go for one of those ... his '80 looks so sweet. It has many 93 updates (ground effects etc) and an awesome green based color changing paint job.
