What a wonderful night.
Well i got my 1st paycheck from UPS and i will be making ruffly twice as much as my previous job so i was happy on my way home from work. Along the way i see some head lights slowly weaving through traffic and eventually beside me at a light. I am not really caring since i just have a stock rs (minus the a/c delete pully) and didn't really want to mess with the eclipse next to me. So i go easy off the line and take it up to my comfy 45-50mph. (35zone, but who cares) Anyway this joker keeps right next to me, has a stick and is driving either a GS or an RS 2nd gen Eclipse. So i get tired of it and decided that its time that one of us (Probably me i thought) gets toasted and has to look at the others tail lights. So i plop it into second and hold it for a second so he gets the idea. He goes and i go. An its scary, i actually won! Not just by a fender, but about 2-3 cars at 75mph-80 (don't usually go that fast, but i was to happy to care). He shut down about then. I made my turn and, yes folks i got the single finger salute. I know you Iroc, gta, trans am guys and you motor swap guys will laught, but to me its really kind of nice to know i can still give some of these **** boys a nice woopin, despite my older car, excess weight (tool box, art bag, a few odds and ends), crap gears, and generally underpowered V8, against a newer car by about 5-10 years.
I know that feeling. My girlfriend has a 98 eclipse gs and my stock 92 rs can easily whoop her. Ive said this before and I'll say it again, the non turbo dsm's are nothing to worry about. Ive seen fully riced out ones at the track have a hard time breaking into the 17's.

Ya deffinantly scary. I get annoyed though that all of these really slow cars keep trying to race my moderatly pokey RS. I wish something decent would do something, but oh well.

Im a loader over at the Palatine IL hub. Just started a few weeks ago and i work on the missouri, Illinois dock. Not a bad job, especially for as little time as you are there a night and as much money as you get.

i live right near the chelmsford mass hub...which im told is one of the biggest hubs ups has....
i have some friends that worked there, and they are kinda weird but i understand their strategy...the whole part time work only thing is kinda odd (not totally, but almost)
but from what ive heard its a decent part time job, pay isnt that bad for that kinda thing

the reason it's part time is because the work is hard, some people manage to do what is called "doubles" which is two shifts one behind the other... but I know I would pass out if I sorted for two shifts and then go to school? but hey the pay rocks

Try loading or talking to someone who has done it before. I haven't heard a single person yet that didn't say that loading was the hardest (physically) job in the hub. Boxes from 2-3oz up to (so far) 135lbs generally hovering in the 12-50lb range and numbering up to almost 1000 boxes per truck. Fun stuff.

the reason that they are part time like that is because its much cheaper....by doing it that way, its much easier for them to choose only select people to move up the ladder and become full time.....by utilizing students and other part time workers it makes their schedules much more robust and flexible.
as far as hard work, try digging holes all day in 100 degree heat all summer and carrying 300lb bundles of pipe around on your shoulder.

I saw a flier around my school, called, applied over the phone and the next day they called. I don't have the number on me, but i am sure if you look online at their site you can find it. They usually have a few differant shifts and they probably vary from hub to hub, but the two big ones here are the 5-11pm (oh and they don't always run the entire 5-11pm right now we are running 5:50-about 9:30) and then 3-9am. Its not bad work, starts out at 8.50 here and after 3months goes to $9 an hour.
normally you just show up.... and they do the interviews but you have to show up at like the shifts you want, like me I wanted nights so I showed up at 10:30pm but if you want morning you have to go during the morning shift at like 6:30 and so on. I didn't have to call. I started at 9.50 and now I'm at 10, sorting boxes
great I hope you do get the job, now remember you guys, the job might "Look" impossible at first but it is doable. trust me I've been working there for 4 months now and it only gets easier. the first 2 weeks are hard but you'll get the hang of it. actually the first week is easy as heck cuz all you do is sit and watch videos, and you get paid for it too. the second week is hard cuz you actually will do things, the hard part is coming home, can you say "muscles hurting" but man you build muscles quick at ups. just don't be afriad of the job
