They still make those? I thought it was gone in the nineties.

well my 98 S-10 SS went 15s factory stock and high 14s on the slick....launch really helped that poor thing out. But I have seen them range from 16.0 factory down to a 14.9 all stock. Right now my buddy is at 11.86 in his S-10 with the v6 still and I'm scrambling to catch up. With some bolt ons and tuning these things really wake up quick, plus weighing under 3000 pounds definately helps them out a lot.

FYI they were made from 94-98 with 98 having the least made around 1798 total trucks. They were only offered in white, black, or red, and only in short bed short cab nothing else. All had the 4.3L high output and a 4L60E trans, none came stick. They had 3.42 posi 10 bolt, and all came with a 3rd shock in the rear mounted parallel to the ground to eliminate wheel hop completely on these trucks. Definately handle really well on some new tires as well.

I raced one of those in my old car once.. I had a stock 89 325i bmw 5-spd (t-boned by a taurus last spring) and I pulled probly one to two car lengths each time I raced him, and my old bimmer supposedly only ran a 15.8 stock. Actually, it might have been one of those xtreme s10's. I cant remember. It had the ground effects on it. Whats the difference between a ss and xtreme anyways?

The extreme can get either the 2.2 4 cylinder or the 4.3. It has ZQ8 handling package and the ground effects. The SS is what everyone said above, 4.3 only.

plus the SS pulls on a extreme (stock for stock) everytime. Not really sure why but my friend has a factory SS and i've never seen him be dead even with an extreme he always pulls on them.

well it was rated at 190 @ 4400 RPM when the peak power for me was around 4900 RPM on the dyno. So it was above 200 don't worry.....now it's definately above 200
