03' dakota...this was crazy!

k last week i went to the track runnin my maro....when im waiting in line to run i hear this mad roar....i looked around and saw this nice *** black dakota with a bunch of ppl standing around it...at the time i was runnin open hedders so i revved it back to catch their attention...and the owner comes up to me and asks me if i was interested in runnin with him. i new he had to have somthin up his sleeve so i asked him what was under the hood he said a 4.7 litre 5 speed with flowmasters a k&n and no cat...i thought it was bs but he swore it was all he had so i accepted....now i have a few mods on my l69 so i thought it wouldnt be a problem. turns out i was wrong BIGTIME not only did he spank me he ran 13.0 with his e-brake on! after it was over i was a lil pissed on y he never told me what he had under the hood and he still wouldnt tell anyone! this really shocked me what do u think he could have had under the hood?! then he wanted to run again cuz of the e-brake....i declined this time.

He isn't telling you something. They don't run 13.0 without serious mods, especially with the ebrake on!

Maybe a supercharger or nitrous, those would be the easiest.

I don't know, you would have seen the plumbing for the nitrous and a supercharger that pushes a truck into the 13s has to make some massive noise.

Ive hung with modded 5.9's, and a 4.7L is pretty bad... How much of the engine did you see? Did you hear anything weird other then exhaust? Like a lopey cam, supercharger whine, BOV of a turbo, or purge of nitrous? w/ ebrake off, it would of probably run mid 12's, maybe low 12's. Power adder is deff under that hood. That, or he did a Viper V-10 swap.

I'm thinking supercharger with a bigger cam and some porting of the intake and heads. Totally possible.

So what did you end up running in the 1/4?
Am I the only one that thinks it is retarded to keep everything a secret? If you have a setup that should run 11s and you run 13s then I can see not telling people, but other than that.....Stupid.

Most of the 4.7's will outrun the 5.9 R/T stock for stock. There are exceptions though. The 4.7 is a far superior motor, and is much more technologically advanced. But like you said, that sucks that he had to lie about it. Thats as bad as these kids in their little "nip" cars.

the reason he didnt tell what he had or let you take a look under the hood is because what if you looked under the hood and see naws and a blower would you still race him? most likely not and neither would anyone else thats why. back in the 50's street rodders would only barley beat the other guy he was racing so someone says my car is faster than that and he races him and gets beat. also they used to get there engines all wet and run them throught the dirt so it look like it was nothing special,or like they havent worked on it. just thought you guys might want to know.
