Raced a 2000 v6 stang

This buddy of mine and me have been BSin' for some time about his mustang and how my L03 couldn't hang with him. So I bumped into him at the football game Friday and we began to BS again and it was on. I met him a little later and we lined up at a light. Reved up the motor to about 1200 rpms and took off when the light went green. I jumped into the lead and took him to the end at about 2 car lenthes in front of him. He did the BS flyby and kept going. That's ok though, I'll see him Tuesday between 3rd and 4th hour.

Was this Mustang an auto or stick, because a stick one can be a mid to low 15 second car. My friends ran 15.4s with nothing done to it @ 1200' elevation! Good win either way, but your car may be faster than you think!

How was he launching? Was it a well prepped track? Granted it was late June (read: hot/humid) and the car only had 800 miles on it, but the best I could muster out of an '03 V6/5-speed was a 15.9 with a 2.3 60' and I can usually run a new best in my friend's cars after 3 - 4 passes. I tried everything I could and couldn't keep it from spinning.

I actually have a video of a 15.4 pass on CD but cant get it online. It was middle of the summer July or August, and this was decent prep and on street tires. I think the 60 was only a 2.2 or so and the trap was a low 90!

The car wasn't a stick, it was an auto and he was launching what seemed to be pretty well. In fact, the only tire squeeling was done by me.

Good kill. I honestly do not in any way believe a v6 stang can run anywhere near a 15.4. I have done my share of v6 stang raping with my stock L03 and my car is in no way capable of those times as is.

Like I said, I have a video that I watch and have actually been in this car. If there was any way I can get it online I would. Also take into account with another driver in worse weather the car ran 15.8-16.0. The driver who went 15.4 also has a 5.0 with a few mods that pulls low 12s, so he knows what he is doing behind the wheel. I wish I could post the video, but like I said I have no way to get it online!

15.4 is definetly possible out of a stick v6 mustang .A guy I used to go to the track with has one with true duels, and ram air that runs 14.9 . I dont know to many people with L03's that run those times. Those things have like 210 horsepower stock and the standards have decent gearing. Its defently possible to squezze a 15.4 out of one.

I thought they had only 190 hp, I remember that from a tv commercial, the automatics are slow however, i've lined up with a few and they could not keep up with me

They have 193 HP I believe, but yes 15.4s are possible. Remember the car weghs alot less than a GT, I think it was a little over 3100 with the driver. Too boot the car then was equipped with a dual exhaust (just the catback) McCreary dirt track tires, and a filter and went 14.9 again at 90-91.

It's all in the 60'...I couldn't, no matter how hard I tried, get that car to 60' any better than a 2.3...obviously I was doing something wrong, but if I'd gotten a 2.0 - 2.1 out of it, which I think is completely possible on a good track, then a mid to low 15 would be doable, but those cars are harder to launch than any car I've ever driven.

I was also told the clutch sux in the car. Apparently it is so spungy that when you dump between shifts, your foot moves faster than it does! Had two guys tell me that, one ran 15.4 the other went 16.2s all day! Either way they are no race car, but not too bad!

they can't be that fast

i've beat a couple in my stock 82z with the lg4

it could have been the 4sp, but i know my car isn't that fast

i might be able to pull under a 16, if i launched absolutley perfect, but its a not very likely
