2.8 Vs 1.8

Will the Si motors out pull a 2.8 w/ mods? Got a youngster wanting to run for 200$, my 2.8 is about 2800lbs(super light), full 2 1/4 exhaust HF cat, turbo mufflerW/ twin pipes, mild cam, and free mods. The si is stock. I know I could beat him off the line easy, but not sure about reaching the next light...Bout a 1/8 mile

Hmmm, I think it would be VERY close. IS the Si a 5 speed?

Uhm, I think yer going to get smoked. It is good possibilty the car in question is B18 swapped SI, which is very common. With that swap those cars typically runs low 14's. Would be a good race for an L98 350 Tpi car. If its really a stock SOHC non vtech SI, then he runs high 17's, in which case you may have a chance.

I think the Si's come with a 1.6ltr B16 motor, not a 1.8ltr. It should make around 160hp at the crank and run mid to high 15's. Its only a 4, but two things you need to keep in mind when comparing it to your car. HP per Liter output and HP to Weight ratio. I think he has you beat in both aspects. When I used to have a L03 powering my 89 RS (the horror!), Integra GSR's with boltons would give me a run for the money. I would not be racing him for $$ unless I had a LB9 or beter....

With Civic's it's hard to tell what you are up against. Unless you know for sure what he has, don't chance it. Too many fast motor swapped Honda's out there. It could run 18's or 12's, or at my track 10's! There is a stock looking 4 door Civic, besides the front mount and loud BOV. He has a built H22, turbo, and nitrous. He runs mid 10's at 135+mph!:hail: Scary...very!
