'92 RS vs. Insert Here (A Couple Hypotheticals)

Hey what's up, I bet you all remember me from the embarassing moment with the Bonneville SSEI. Well it seems these Pontiac's got beef with me, because I got a question.

How fast are the new Grand Am GTP's? A kid at my school has a 2000ish Grand Am GTP, I know they are quick, but how quick?

Right now I've got the intimidation factor with my car because he doesn't have any knowledge with Chevy engines to know that my motor from the factory isn't anything to brag about.

So he's got a completely stock GTP, and I have my RS with Open Element (K&N), Wires, Thermostat, Chip, Catback, Muffler, and Headers.

You think I should take him?

Allright, now I got another hypothetical for all my street geniuses out there. There is this retard (another one) that drives a mid-90's Integra. Its got the white wheels (only on the back, haven't bought the fronts yet) and the standard fart pipe that seriously sounds like a wet fart when he gets on it. Do you think I should talk crap with him to see what's up? Or just leave him alone because he'll probably spank me? I know for a fact that he is N/A, I most definately can't hear a turbo underneath the hood.

Okay kiddies, one last question by the resident moron over here. 93+ Nissan 300ZX's that are n/a. You think that the six in one of those could give me a run for my money, now I've got more credit for him because I know that he had the money to work on his engine, but with him too I know that he is n/a.

Anyways, thanks for the help, maybe I"ll report back with some good kill stories, or some embarassments for you guys to laugh at me (again).

I would have to say:

GTP = no
Intergra, 300Z = yes

Leave the GTP alone. It will rip you a new one. Imagine the bonny but only a lot faster with 40 more HP. It is a pretty quick car. Not much off the line but doesn't take long to wind up and eat up some road. A pully and a chip and they can run mid 13's all day. Stock can run mid 14's to low 15's. Chevy High perforamce magazine tested the new impalla SS which is the same car as the GTP for the most part (same power and weight built on the same platform) and they ran a 14.72 @ 92.15. 0-60 in 6.48sec. I bet with your mods your 0-60 is close to that but no way is your ET.

Take the integra down. He is an empty threat. Most likey he has zero mods because who only buys two wheels at a time. You will murder him off the line and I don't see him playing catch up at all.

Not sure about the N/A 300ZX but I would geuss he would edge you out. Your best bet will be to get him off the line where you have the advantage but I am pretty sure he will pull you up top if you race for a long distance. This one I would say is down to driver and length of race.

Is the 1993 300zx a auto or manual, Stock N/a cars put out about 215hp while the turbo models put out alittle over 300hp. but they are very heavy cars. All I know is that I had a 1988 300zx turbo with a stock 6 with 200hp and a 5 speed and it will walk my 89 camaro with a 350 in it with an edelbrock carb and intake. I am not really an expert on these cars but all I know is what I told you and it is facts.

a 3.8 n/a would fustigate an lo3, gm did very good by that motor, a consistent mid to low 15 sec car since the early 90s

Thanks for the input guys, I appreciate all the responses. I knew the GTP could probably take me, but I guess I was just in denial about him.

I'll probably stomp on the Integra this weekend, Seems like there is nothing else on the calender.

As for the 300Z, I think I'm gonna talk to him to see what he's worked on under the hood, and then evaluate it from there.

I'll definately let you guys know what goes down though. I am sure the race with the Integra Assclown will be a real hoot, I wonder what he's got up his sleeve once I beat him

Thanks again guys,

Have the GTP race the integra so that you can rub it in how bad that his import got worked by a non muscle car. Ricers hate that even more than losing to a camaro. They can justify losing to a V8 but can't fathum that thier cars are still slower than a 3800lb 4dr V6 domestic. I beat a neon in my dads full size GMC sierra with the freakin V6. I think those kids in the car wanted to die because they were so humiliated.

You have to watch out for some of those "Honduh" people, yeah the car might look like **** and might sound really bad... but its hard to tell with them... because the 12 sec. cars sound just like the 18-19 sec. cars... Friend of mine has an H22 in a civic... and you would never even know it til he rolls past you... So be careful with that....

I have been rolled a few times by those freakin GTP's... Its really kind of embarrasing... but yeah...

300zx N/A sucks... That is all on that...

The GTP's can run high 14's which is by no means slow. Chevy High Tech Performance tested a new a Impalla SS which is basically the same car and it ran a 14.7. They will lay a mean beat down to any stock LO3, LG4 and some 305 TPI's.
