suprising win

Crusing down the road doing about 35, this red late 80's early 90's mustang GT just blows by me, and slows down in front of me. I wasnt going to race him becuase I didnt think I would win. My friend finally convinced me to go. so the guy in the other car looks at me and nods and we both gun it, to my suprise, I pull ahead and stay there. We stop at the stoplight a mile ahead, make the turn, and he decides to flip me off and speed by. well, I'm not having any of that so I just walk by him.

How did I take down a GT with my 91 305 RS? I wondered the same thing. all I have is ultimate TBI mods, headers, and exaust. Well I call my friend, who I realized knew the guy in the mustang, and come to find out that the GT was in a bad wreck the other week, and has alot of crappy replacement parts just untill he can afford the stock ones at least. so he's driving with a very bad rear axle with "really really bad gears" a drive shaft that "is messed up" and a transmission that doesnt shift so great anymore. Find the guy later that night at a party, and he couldnt even get the mustang to burn out very well (I've seen my friends stock 90 LX do wayyy better), and when he revved it you could hear a high pitched screech.

Well, it wasnt the greatest of wins, but it was mine, and that's all that really matters.

yeah, he told me so himself. he said he thought he'd have a chance, and was just looking for some fun either way.

I know at least the rear axle and everything on it. the front axle, and is in need of a few other things. I'll find out more if I can.

Yeah, because even running a 7.5 rear would probably have at least a 2.73 gear (a 7.5 is more likely to have a lower gear, such as a 3.08 or 3.55) and that wouldnt make it any slower. I dont know what you mean by front axles, but I dont see how just suspension parts can make a car any slower than stock. Find out what kind of engine mods and such...

otherwise nice win.

well, their bent a little bit.

the guy was trying to race in the rain, ended up doing a 360, hit the median with the right side wheels really hard, the car jumped up and over, landing and resting on the median. dont know how the car wasnt totalled.

it has no engine mods. and some engine problems now, he wont say anything, but when he drives it it makes a hissing/whailing noise, and cant shift very good anymore.

Great so hes not too bright then, instead of fixing it, he risks destroying what could be a decent car. Oh well... some dont deserve what they own.

Ha, just drive it until it dribbles parts onto the road, huh? Sheesh. Reminds me of he stuff I see here in Hawaii - absolutely nice cars utterly trashed from driver neglect and ignorance. Like nice cars grew on trees...

that is exactly how my friend is, he had an 89 trans am(lo3) and after dumpin like 1300 into for a tranny that didnt get fixed (oil was still black and burnt smell) and he beat the hell out of it and the intermidate pipe was hangin on by speaker wire, he sold it to some idiot for 2k. then he got an 87 gta with a remanu. 350 fully loaded for 3k, he dumped like almost 2k into it to fix it after he tried to fix the EGR and then screwed everything up, got hit in 2 differnt spots(passenger fender and river 1/4 panel), now he's gettin $2200 from the insurence becuz of the 1/4 panel damage some guy did to it. so he junked the car last week and got $500 for it. now he's gettin a 90 eagel talon tsi awd ( either turbo is goin or wastegate is stuck open (only 2 lbs of boost), 147k miles and bone stock)) he's payin 2k for this car and thinks its goin to be alot easier to work on then 3rdgens.
