Got SMOKED!!

I got beat in a street race with a 2nd Gen Eclipse. Didn't know it was turbocharged when we started...untill I hit 70 and he flew past me like i wasn't moving.....time to invest in a 350 or something.....

erm.. i dont see the question here... that sucks... you beat him til 70? thats pretty impressive for a 305.. his car must be rather slow.. what mods do you have done? if none your car probably runs somewhere in the really high 14's or 15's... that means his cars probably only a 14 sec car..

I don't even think he was trying......Sorry....what mods would have to be done to a 305 to bring it up to 200Hp or so.....if there are any. Or...would i be cheaper to just get a 350 from the junkyard and have it rebuilt? I beat my uncle's Monte SS and his 305 is modded.

seeing you dont even know if there are any mods done to your engine, we'll assume there hasnt been any

a bone stock 305 replaced by a 350 bone stock, would be a huge upgrade in power.. go 350

Just remember that simply dropping in a 350 isn't going to guarantee 13 seconds in the 1/4 mile. If you're only looking for 200HP (you can get even 300 rather easily from a 305), I would focus on breathing..... a better intake, and exhaust.

Concentrate on getting you're Camaro a little bit lighter in weight (light makes might), and experiment with some aftermarket tranny & rearend gearing.

True, the 305 is a dog compared to a 350.... but if you focus on the 'power to weight' factor (as the Eclipse does), you'll do extremely well....

So your slow 3rdgen got beat by a slow eclipse? Good time to figure out what has or hasent been done to your car. You would be supprised how a nice V6 3.42 rear end swap will improve your driving experinace.
