my car needs alot more power
i drive an '85 trans am, with a 305TPI with just a few upgrades...like K&N filter with cut out air box, 3"flowmaster american thunder, with no cat(3" pipe in its place), MSD wires, and a tpis airfoil, with a 700R4 with a B&M shift kit......and the other day traveling down the northway (highway) i was in the slow lane going about 70mph,a nd i see a Mitsubishi eclipse come up in my rear view..i dindt think any thing of it, but when it went past, the kid driving pointed forward and floored it..so, so did i, at first i was pulling pretty hard on him ...untill-Idk how fast(my speedo opnly goes to 85 but my rpms were very close to 5 grand in drive (according to the equations thing on this site i was going around 125-130mph) we then slwoed down, and then started accelarating again,a nd thsi time he was pretty much side by side with me... this was a 2000 or newer GT eclipse by the way, i have no idea if it was modified in any way...
this was very frustrating to me...(i know its got 200 horse and is lighter then my car)
i need about 175-225 more horsepower sooooon, i dont know how much longer i can take this harrassment form imports..

its not the displacement that kills the 305 its the ****ing design of it. the bore/stroke and all that **** is just ****ed up. its basically set up to fail by design. obviously theres fast ones out there, i.e. ******* supercharged one, but it takes a lot of money to make the 305 acceptably powerful, where as a motor with much better physics (ls1,lt1, hell any 350) will undoubtedly make more power. take the ls1 for example. the reason why it performs so well and is so efficient is the physics inside. its the same displacement as any other 5.7 but it arrives at 5.7l in a different way. hope anybody can understand this.

I sure will. Reason?

I know that there are some BAD V-6 turbos on this site. I respect them very much.
:hail: Can't remember his name, but the guy with the red T/A with white bumper runs damn near 9's!!:hail: As far as hondas go...
Physics are just wrong. They can be fast. But consider what they have to do to be fast. Almost all the respectable ones have power adders... However, take the same amount of boost/nitrous, and put that to an LS1 Z-28. See my point? I was just saying that you can only do so much before you run out of cubic inches to play with.

Man dont feel soo bad about getting beat by one of those, if it was a GT then it was the V6 model, and they are pretty quik. I raced one before i got a rear end swapped and got killed off the line. Then my buddy in his 91 stock GTA with 305 TPI, raced him and got killed also, so i think that your doing pretty good to have beat one or to hang with one.
