My boss raced me in a 99 Eclipse he has. He raced me once before on a slick street after it had been raining, beat me by 3 cars (I spun until I hit 2nd). This time we ran on a nice dry road that offered alot of traction (although I still spun a bit). I got him on the launch and continued to pull away for a little shy of 1/4 mile where we turned off. He can DRIVE a 5 spd, but he didn't have the upper hand this time.

totally throws me off. I've seen Eclipses beat a few cars, I saw one spank the crap out of an LO3.

How in the hell could u beat a V-6 5 speed eclipse in a 6 cylinder camaro. No auto 305 even Z-28's can take those cars unless the driver blows. They run consistantly below 15.3. That seems farfetched to me. I lost to one in my 92 Z-28 305 TPi

You didn't say it was a 4 or a 6 cylinder either way. A turbo AWD Eclipse would have spanked you horribly. And probably most of the rest of us.

 

i raced two eclipses myself... one was my friend's 2003 GS 4cyl. 5 speed with exhaust, cold air intake, and stuff like that.. which i killed with an '86 firebird witha V6 and a T-5(my winter car) and the other was a 2000+ GT eclipse no idea if it was standard or "sport-tronic"...it was on the highway and we were going side by side, pretty much dead even untill somewheres around 120mph (i was in my 85 trans am with a 305 TPI, 700R4, with a K&N filter, cut out air box, 3" Flowmaster with NO cat, and some stupid stuff like that...)
the GT was a BIG difference, (probably cuz its got bout the same horse as my car and is lighter...)

oh by the way if u see the dark grey one i raced the first time..(4 cylinder).. Watch Out! its currently got Mitsu turbo and spearco intercooler on it runnin around 10 pounds of boost, and pushin somewheres around 250hp at the wheels.. not too shabby i'd say.. even tho i hate it. lol
we have no idea what it runs in the quarter but we will as soon as we make it Lebanon Valley (the nearest track)

They didn't make a V6 model in 99. That's why I said read the post.
