Took down a V8 S10

Well it all started in the walmart parking lot, i saw this S10 truck comming throught the parking lot revving his engine, it was clear that it was a V8. I talked to him later and he said that it has a 350 with a 4.11 gear. He told me that he ran at the 8th mile track and ran a 9.7, and that was with a 3.08 street gear and a smaller carb. then he ask me if i wanna race, so i say ok ill race but your gonna kill me. We first go from a 15 mph roll, and i put about a half a car on him, i was thinking that he messed up. Then we race from a dead stop, and i put almost a full car on him. I couldnt believe that my 305 just killed a 350. I was very surprised. I stopped and talked to him after that and he says "man that thing sure runs good"

Well that i dont know for sure, i went to the track last season to try to get a base time. i was having problems with my thorttle valve cable, i coudlnt get it adjusted right because there were so many people there and i couldnt get enough runs in. Anyways the best i could pull was a 16.3. since then ive added custom chip, heddman 1 5/8 hedders and a 3.42 gear w/posi, so im real excited to go to the track this year and see what i can run

With your mods you should be able to beat a 9.7 in the 1/8. Sounds like he just swapped in a smogger 350.

I saw the whole thing from behind, and I thought that Dustin was absolutely gonna get killed, that truck sounded mean. But lo and behold the good ole' 305 came through again!!

nice kill..those F trucks think they are the kings or something 2 day ago i was at a gas station putting air in my tire and there was a guy pumping gas into his big f150 and tells me i should get a real v8, his friend in the truck starts giggleing so i get in my car and wate till he drives off. soon as he got on the road he lit up the road and kept going. so i get on the road and floor it, 5 seconds later i fly past him like nothing with my finger out the window honking my horn lol. i figured when he said real v8 he though i had a 305 but after reading this post about u killing it i dont get what the heck he was yappin about

s-10s are made by chevy first off, and they never came with a v8 so the guy went through the trouble of putting one in and they are about half the size of a f150

its pretty sad to hear that a V8 S-10 was taken down...Although It is a great kill for you and congrats on it But given the power to weight ratio of a V8 S-10 he should have walked all over you...So that had to be one out of tune 350 the guy put in or it was a 283 or 305that was still outta tune...lol

Again good job man..u have some braggin rights now!!!

What people don't realize is that a S-10 with a V8 and driver still weigh in at 3,000+lbs. Thats as long as this and that haven't been removed from the truck. So they don't have that big of a weight advantage. Most also get horrible traction at best. I can see you getting him from a dead stop but from a roll you have to be carefull. I've owned 3 in the past and there fun but if it's a stock V8 there not as fast as people realize. There's a bunch around here driven mostly by young kids that only have 305's and they sound/feel fast but actually are not.I'm not trying to discredit your win,Good Job by the way,but just because you drop a V8 into a S-10 doesn't make it fast.

yes most are not fast I know of a hand full that are very fast but, most of the ones are back yard drop ins and are so out of tune and mismatched with parts it is sick. but then again so are alot of the f-bodys around here
