I think you will have some troubles with the Civic SI if they are modified... Even a only a little... I have lots of troubles with them with my 2.8L bird but I'm stock.

You will need to run 15's if you want to beat your buddy. Not sure on the Hondas. My geuss is that they are faster. Simple colt on civics can run with stock LO3's unforntunatly.

99 bird

They have a VERY good motor unfortunately. The 3.8 is an awesome powerplant as far as V6's go. 200hp I forget about the torque, but its more than a TPI 305 (I think). You'll get raped, after the cam and gears, treat yourself to a nice bottle of the good stuff. Snake the lines under your upper plenum and tap a hole directly behind your TB for the nozzle. Running the line into the vaccumn port on the back of your plenum would work to, but only for little dry shots 30-50hp. And for the v8 guys, these cars in stock form will stomp on all but the 350s (stock for stock). I've seen cammed 3.8's hit 13's......scary huh?

no way the torque isnt as much as the 305 tpi the torque on the 6 cylinders is actually close to the horses and the 305 tpi's have like 290-300 torque if im not sure

actually the torque and hp ratings for the tpi 305 and 350 are almost the same less then 20 on both

a cammed 3.8 hitting 13's?!?! if they respond that well to mods, I'd have to say that even with a cam and gears, he's gonna walk on you.

4th gen v-6 3.8 f-bodies haul f$cing ***. They are easy capable of running low 15's. My friend has a 1999 V-6 stock camaro, and ran a freakishly fast 15.4 and he has a automatic tranny. I don't even want to imagine what the stick can pull. You might be in trouble man hate to say so but he will take you. Spray em with a little N20

Expect low 15's from your friend in the 99 Bird. Tough kill.

I dont know about that i had a buddy who drove hsi girlfriends 2k i believe black firebird with a 3.8 adn we were just talking crap to each other one night at a show and decided to go try em out. My bird couldnt beat him but could keep up within a car length or so and that was a 2.8. The rs on the other hand when i first got it with only pipes and coil and cap and rotor, off the light was pretty damn close with him about half a length behind me but as soon as i shifted into drive and overdrive i kept getting farther and farther away from it.

Wow...........either their is some MAJOR mis-representing of thirdgen power around here....or there is some freakishly fast V6 4th gens in your guy's area, because in my town, V6 4th gen are like a bad joke. Usually you'll see them with the token magnaflow exhaust, intake, gears..ect....and they aren't even close to being fast. The fastest of the "modified" ones i saw at the track last week was a 15.2 @ 90 mph, and my old 1985 305 tpi auto iroc with almost no mods went 14.7 @ 94 so thats not really that fast.

I remember racing one of those "modified" 2001 V6 4th gens saturday night on speedway. it was silver and said "RS" on the license plate and had a factory looking dual exhaust with stainless tips. In my mustang I walked him REALLY easy from the second we gunned it.

There is more than 20 difference between the 305 and 350

TPI 350 245hp 345trq
TPI 305 225hp 295trq

Dont under estimate late 4th gen V6 fbodys, those suckers are quick for 6 cylinders most 305 tpi cars should be able to beat them, but the auto 305 tpi's with the crappy cam and L03's would be easily smoked. My cousins friend has a 5spd firebird and stock it ran a 15.5 , then with a flowmaster cat-back, ram-air, and a chip it ran 15.1. So they are pretty quick cars. Also there is a girl at my college who supposedly runs 13's with a supercharged V6 (I havent met her to confirm this but I will take my friends word for it).

My 5 speed LO3 with exhaust and an open element can take the auto 3.8 birds but the 5 speed ones are a drivers race and I can walk all over 3.1s so you're gonna have some trouble with this one.

let me add in my little knowledge. if i were you, i would back out and make some excuse not to. i use to have a v6 forth gen. i had just the 3.4 (which was a joke) and it had some power. the 3800 come with at least 200 hp, and most with 3.43 rear end, limited slip. with open throttle, removd serpentine belt, and a few "free mods", a 5 speed can hit into high 14's a buddy of mine did that once. there is even a 3800 auto bird that ran 12.999 in the quarter. probably sprayed and supercharged but man lets face it, we are trying to get ours there too, and v6 can do it. check out a site called firebirdv6.com and browse through there message board and how fast they are. most, are doing the same thing that us 305's are doing, and even some 350. if your buddy had a 3.4, i would say rape him, but with the 3.8 powerplant, be careful. dont put money on it.
