my camaro is away until spring so im running around town in my 04 lancer. let me tell u this car is not fast at all but i luv it as a daily. anyway since i brought this car out every tom dick and harry fu(ks with me even those dudes with the full body kits are messing with me now! were before they would not even look at me lol. before i could never get lined up with a 5.0, they would always make a turn now i get lined up mustangs at the light all the time! there are times were i want to tell them to follow me back to my house lol. this just goes to show that everyone is a ***** and i need to move someplace tropical. im guessing im not the only one with this problem..anyone else have to go though this?? if only this many people would mess with my Z i would be set lol

 

I know how that is, when I'm in my IROC everyone wants to race, but when I go out in my Nissan I can't find anyone to play around with. It sucks when you can only get a race when you are in a slow car

 

No one messes with me in mine. I havent figured out why yet, its slow. I even had a C5 make a illegal turn to not have to line up with me.

 

Hehe, I have the same problem. My '88 currently has a little bit of body damage, and crappy paint, so I don't think it looks like anything special, but it's got a 350 and flowmaster exhaust that I'll admit sounds pretty dang good. However it's still slow as s*** but they don't know that haha.
There's time when I would go cruisin' on the street where all the cars go to race and pick up chicks, and no one would ever rev or race me. I then borrowed my friend's uncle's DSM (early 90's) and I got revs left and right.
But there was ONE car that sized me up and raced. It was a freakin' modded to crap SS LS1!!!! I was like "holy ****" when I saw him take off. And when he paced me I was laughing with my friend saying I had no chance the whole time. I gassed it for about a quarter of a second if that, and then gave up. This thing flew like a bat out of hell.... from a roll!!!

I disagree. When I see another import, espcially r iced out ones, I assume that they are some young kid who I might be able to sucker into racing me. But whenever I try to get a Mustang or Camaro to race me they won't even look at me.

I've changed my mind. When my car wasn't fast, I didn't want to race a Camaro or Mustang either. You are totally right.

I heard the new Evos are actually pretty good, noone around here ever revs or anything.

I go cruizein for hours and i never ever ever get a bite. ijust think the ****ty paint and true dual into 40 series mufflers scare them into thinknig iver gota some crazy mill under the hood and the big ol' meats out back amplafie there worst fears.

 

I know what you mean. Everytime my gf is in the car I always get challenged. The gf is scared of my car and going fast.... so can't really race. But when I'm by myself... nooooooooooooooooooo

 

ppl always try to mess with me when im in my 91 Z28 but i dont race.

 

people always think my car has to be fast cuz its an Iroc and it has the L98 350. most dont know what an L98 is and when they see Iroc-z, they think I have atleast 300hp. Its hard to tell them the truth that I am making a hopeful 260-270 with the mods I have done. But it does handle most cars on the street round me well.

I get some punks in trucks and cars trying to mess with me but nothing too much R icer yet. I only had a TT stealth, a harley, 02 vette, 50's 383 truck, running behind a WS6, a civic, and a GTP grand prix.

WS6 was running the twisties ahead of me and I was hanging with it for a while.
Civic, no problem there! LOL 4 lengths by end of 1st.
TT stealth was dead even till I blew tranny LOL
Harley was even till 100 then he put a length on me.
GTP pulled hard from roll but I didnt start till he had full length on me else it would have been even.

As for the rest, they roasted me. LOL Its been hard to find a race lately.

 

I dont lnow man the few times ive taken my iroc out all i get is these stupid *** ricers. FRiggin lose em poppin into second. those cars for the most part are pathetic. Haven't gone against anything badass except an STI and that was when my car wasn't stock.

 

I think it does have a little to do with the car. I know if I pulled up next to a loud car it would be intimidating. Even as my car sits now I would be reluctant to race people. Sure it is decently fast, but nothing special, and I would hate it if I lost to a car I shouldnt have lost to! People pick on weaker cars because they have a fear of losing (especially after spending a lot of money), but in todays world, you never know whats fast or not!

All I can say is I rarely get people who want to race me, and usually its from a roll and the person is in another Mustang or pickup (yes pickups lately). I never bite, but could have them if I wanted to!

 

I dont know, every time I tell someone I have a 89 Camaro, they are like "is it an Iroc?" i am like yep and they are like NICE!!

25th, man whats up?, your running quicker than most mild modded Ls1's and they take down most cars. You shouldnt be scared of losing a race to a car. So what if a civic beats you. You know you should beat civics but if they beat you, Oh well, give him some credit. Its hard if the guy is a real hardass about it. But oh well, move on to the next race. You must have some fast cars around you cuz 12's is moving pretty good. LOL

My car has noticeable idling and exhaust note to it and people look over and look the car over. it gets attention and I like it but its not as fast as it sounds. LOL

 

At least you guys get people that wanna race you.....I've had my TA for a little over 4 years and have yet to have anyone try to race me on the street I've raced a few in my ROC since I bought it in 96 but 0 in the TA

As far as my car Im sure it would, but to me it doesnt feel that fast and I just dont have any desire to race people. My area has one of the largest cruise scenes in New England, called the Berlin Turnpike. It attracts a lot of cars and a lot of fast cars. 12s would fall into the quick category but not fast. Id want to be solid mid 11s before i got serious into any street racing near me!

I don't care if I lose, I'd be willing to try and race anyone that messes around next to me. Even if it's a LS6 vette or Viper that I know would beat me, it's just for fun anyways....and I realize there's always someone faster out there, you'll meet him sooner or later

 

stu, no offense but I am sure you know this. Your car looks too much like a beater to be worthy of a race. LOL I wont risk running hard against a stock looking beater teg with a pipe. I be like come on man, you got to be kidding. (But little do I know you will dust me) I love your car and all, but I suggest new paint, wheels and maybe a mild looking body kit. That will attract more attention and thus get more races.

 

Nope, all that is just wasted money that I'd never get back. I just have to drive like an *** a little to get them interested. It's okay if I can't get them to go from a light, I'd rather race them from a roll anyway.

 

Rolls would benefit you more. wheels wouldnt be bad idea cuz you can put some good rubber on there so better traction and handle bit better.

 

man i had the same problem dude when im in my camaro even tho its not really fast not many ppl want to race me but when i had my z24 i had alot of ppl step up n try to mess wit me now i wish it was liek that now wit my camaro
