TTA vs. GTA

Okay, I own the '88 GTA, pretty much stock (center console cover delete! ) but runs pretty decent. I MAY be the pround owner of a stock TTA shortly. I already know the answer to my question, but has anyone actually done it? Stock Vs. Stock, no juice or other mods. Also, which one handles better?

the tta had more horse, so stock vs stock both in great shape the tta should win, should also handle better due to it being a bit lighter

wont even be close. the TTA runs low 13's stock. The 88 GTA will be running low 15's.

I too have an 88 GTA and they're roadrace cars, as far as the TTA goes I don't know much about their suspension but if they too have the WS6 suspension then the TTA might handle better due to being lighter. As for as the quater mile goes the TTA would win hands down.

i drove a TTA back when my GTA was only slightly modded, running 13.80's. the gta would rip it out of the hole, but lost on top end. top end on the TTA is CRAZY! they just keep pulling.

Not quiet. Almost all of the GTA's have every option possible so tht makes them kinda heavy compared to other thirdgens. Don't get me wrong, they handle very well, but if you really wanted to go road racing, you would try to find a Formula 350 WS6. Much lighter, same suspension and same drivetrain.

Back on the subject. The TTA will wreck the GTA in every single aspect. The TTA is faster, it has better brakes (1LE), and it's lighter in the front end so it will handle better too.

As stated above plus the relocating of the torque arm also assists in brake dive.

The TTA is just no comparison to the GTA, even though they are really the same car.

Right. The TTA is a GTA. One has the L98 and the other the Turbo V6. Allen

I thought so. I ended up getting it, so I have two Trans Am's in my stable now. The catalytic convertor on the TTA is gong out, so it hs more backpressure, causing the wastegate to kick in on hard acceleration. If I accelerate smoothly, it's fine, and zing - I'm busting speed limits left and right. HTe suspension is much better, also, and hte brakes actually work, as opposed to the junk stock brakes the GTA has...

Yeah, the GTA is heavy, and I also agree with the Formula line of thought. If I want to road-race it, it would need to go on a diet, for sure.

Funny, how the TTA turned out much better them the GTA it was built from. I guess Pontiac wasn't about to do a simple stripe and badge job for that car.
