89RS vs 2002 Cougar w/ supercharger

This has got to be one of the sweetest races eeeevar!!!! Mainly due to the fact I beat an ex-girlfriend (who coincidentally dumped me for this former friend and loser https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=243786 )

Anyway,we work together and she'd been bragging about her new car (a 2002 Cougar w/ supercharger) and how fast she was and how she has won 4 races so far.She should've known better than to talk to me!

Last Wednesday I was talking to a buddy outside after work when she came out.I hollered at her"when we gonna race?"She replied "Anytime, anyplace".I looked at my watch...."Baby I got time and this is the place!"

I jumped in the Camaro and drove around to where she was.She paused and looked at me.I could smell her fear. She followed me out of the parking lot.I tried to time it so we could catch the light in front of the plant but we both missed it.We're going to have to race from a roll .

She's behind me and I drop to 25-30 or so.She changes lanes and nails it.I let her get a lenth or so ahead and hit the gas.RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRaaaaaaaaarrrr!I take off like a bat outta hell.We reach the next intersection and I laugh as she turns off and can tell shes cussing me!

The next day at work I had everyone asking her how it feels to lose a race! She was trying to say she had cars in her way I had a car in my way too....a slow-*** Cougar I had to pass!

Ahhhhhhh.......I feel so much better!

Who in the hell supercharges one of those turdmobile Cougars? My buddy had a 00 and he talked smack about my Camaro al lthe time. I ran him and sucked him up in my old Camaros tailpipes...the sad thing was, it was a bone stock LG4 that was badly out of tune lol.

Great kill man!

Sounds like it was stock and they theoretically added the blower. Either way you put her in her place.

She had told me that it sounded funny whenever she drove it, especially when she nail it.She had it serviced and they said it was supercharged thus the noise she heard.I havnt looked myself so I'm not certain.

Anyway I thiught the 2002 cougarcame inline 4,a V 6, and a V 6 charged.

You could get a V6 but it was like a 2.5 L or something. They were never blown from the factory.

from a dead stop you woulda smoked her worse. My buddy had an 02 Zsomething cougar 6 cyl auto. I raced him with my winter beater 92 Z24 3.1L 5 speed and walked him 3 outta 3 races. I told him i use the Cav to do my light work. (its the same exact color as my Z28) Im looking for a red 91-92 Z34 to fill my whole chevy Z lineup....
that race reminds me of one of my favorite quotes:
"i fight punks like you on the way to fights"

Just about every cougar, yep, but not all. I love the late 60's-70 ones.

They were offered with a 120HP? 2.0L 4 cylinder, and an overrated 170HP 2.5L 6 cylinder. The 2.5L with a manual is at best a mid 16 second car. With its DOHC design, even with intake manifold runner control, it makes less power below 4000RPM than my 92HP S10 does. The autos are much much slower. Not only was a supercharger not offered from the factory, I don't believe anyone makes one. There's just no room for one. And like TBI92Camaro said, these are some of the poorest quality vehicles on the road. The only good thing about these cars is that they break down and fall apart so often, Lincoln/Mercury techs like myself have job security.

I'm pretty sure there is/was a supercharger kit for those cars as my cousin was talking about doing that to his '99. Which by the way is incredibly slow. Cat-back and intake mods, and he ran a 16.4@90 or something like that. And then he said he thought he could hit 15s with it and my response was "not unless you ran a 2.6x 60'"
