Cobra SVT

Can't anyone send a Ford my way that is even remotely challenging??? lol . actually, yes i raced a Cobra SVT from a highway roll and smoked the ever loving shiite out of it. poor dude was pretty embarrassed because his girlfriend was in the car too. ha! too bad. my guess is it was one of the 320ish hp models of a few years ago. once i hit 140 i hit the brakes and it took him what seemed to be about 15 sec to catch up. great oden's raven, can't anyone find me a fast ford!

dude you think anyone is going to take their car that fast with their girl in the car? I did run another car with my girl with me and i was catching quickly but once i hit 80 i let off and let him go. That (80mph)was too fast for me to go with someone in the car, especially my girl. And yes I have taken my car just slightly less than what you have just done with yours I have a slight tire restriction.

motor to motor, there are many Cobra's from 03-04 that would love to hand you your azz...... but with your 150 shot on top of that 383 superram, your looking near 600hp... which is in the range of alot of KB blown cobras putting out 17-19psi, most stangs wont be a problem

head down to tampa bay area... plenty of southern boys down there running some REAL quick fords

Well look at your car.. nothing short of an '03-04 cobra, or a earlier model with some boost will take you lol. I think a late model cobra with a couple bolt-ons would have you, without your spray.

There's one lurking around my neighborhood with full bolt ons and a ported blower... *** knows what he's putting down. I'm just waiting for the whine to get REALLLLLY loud..

Not suprise if it was a 96-98 cobra. Not that fast. I think 305 hp? 03 Cobra would of taken you with couple bolt ons easily. Those things are fast!

bolt ons for a cobra could mean 400rwhp to 500rwhp.... all depends on the pulley size LOL

cobras are heavy, around 3700lbs so thats about 300lbs more than a fbody thirdgen. it will take about 450rwhp to hang with a thirdgens 400rwhp

i got a guy out here with a cobra that would most definately waste ya..but its gonna take alot of cash to get him out there. Not sure on the internal specs but he's running a densecharger, think a 250 shot, co2 assisted shifter, 28x10.5 mt's out back and skinnies and the thing still wont hook for love or money....Car is fast probaly only ford guy i've met and have respect for i ran him before he had the slicks and by the time i hit 3rd he had a good 4 bus lengths on me on spray

I don't think you are looking in the right places, fast mustangs are all over the place you just need to come out when they do. there is a 9 second one the drives around here but, he only brings it out once in a while

Ya, an 03 cobra with just a couple bolt ons is really fast. A good number over 400 hp. A stock 03 cobra puts out 390 hp and 390 ft lbs torque. So watch out for those 03-04 cobras....

Every thirdgen owner that gets told about a Mustang goes on there 2 minute rant about it being thirdgen.org. We all know what the site is called, afterall look at the number of posts most people who respond have! Dont get all pissy when someone mentions facts about other cars! Take it as it comes, rarly do boards have good info about rival cars!

Why would you get banned for liking a car? This is a strict board, not a stupid one. Well...not the way it's ran anyway.

good statement, my sentiments also. and don't take my comments too seriously, im just having a little lighthearted fun here ;-) besides i know there is little in my engine that resembles the original gm design, and any make can be made to go fast and faster if you do enough stuff to it. the one thing that i dont like about cobras and vipers is the weight. too many american cars are just too damn heavy and consequently slower than they should be. gm has done a fair job of keeping the curb weight of their performance cars down. having said that, please dont talk about the gto now. lol.

haha, i was gonna call you on the GTO thing. in fact, EVERY "performance" car GM has out right now is heavier than the previous version, with the exception of the C6 i believe:

- GTOs are tanks
- GTPs got bigger and heavier
- with each new year i believe the fbodies got heavier than before
- Cobalts are heavier than the old Jbodies

Ford is also at fault for making cars heavier with each new model. but by far, Dodge is the worst! remember the Charger from the 80s? look at the difference in weight between the old 80s one and the one from today!!!

yeah, they did drop almost a quarter ton from the 2nd gen to the 3rd gens... however, i was referring to the weight difference between the 3rd and 4th gens

No you didnt hit a nerve I have been here long enough to put the stupid comments about Mustangs aside, and the fact most of the board knows about them and tells the truth about them, allows me to look past what most other ignorant thirdgen owners post! You want to hit a nerve good luck trying to find one... Im the first to rip on a Mustang!

in a world of gas guzzling suv tanks and bloated "performance" cars, all hail the 3100lb C6 Z06, arguably the best american production car ever built (even though you can't get one yet). thank you gm for at least partially redeeming u.s. car manufacturing.

i dont think even monkie could get 25th riled up. In the time I've posted here and on fbody.com (read for years too) I don't think I've ever (save once or twice) seen him end a post without an exclamation point and a good statement lol

i believe 4thgens are about 3400-3500lbs or so, not too far off from the 3rdgen. although you'd think they could've done alot better given the aluminum block and heads.

HAHAH, I didnt get wriled up so much with him, I just hated his cocky attitude.

So to all the newbies, I had a Mustang owner (with a LOT of posts, more than me even. so he wasnt the average troll) kicked off the board. I technically didnt do it, but found the lies he posted all over, and called him out! Im an equal opprotunity offender. I dont care what you drive, I care about your personality!

All new cars are heavy pigs, but they also have more technology, better fuel economy, and more comfort than previous years. The weight isnt always a bad thing!

technology doesnt need to be heavy, quite the opposite id say. look at the best in the world, f1 technology. fuel economy certainly doesnt come from more weight. i dont even think comfort needs to be heavy. the reason why they are heavy is because its cheap to do so. simply put, manufacturers can sell more cars at a lower price and make greater profits by using cheap cast iron and steel instead of lighter materials and the majority of the general consumer public is never the wiser. its all about marketing. john q public could care less what the curb weight of his new sports car is. all he cares about is how cool he feels driving it and that he didnt have to mortgage the house to get it.

I wasnt making the point that these added the weight, I was more or less saying that the cars are heavy, but they have so much else going for them, that the weight only affects people who care about going fast, and that is NOT a lot of people in the new car market! The weight of a car isnt an issue with a soccor mom, or 40 year old attourney who could care less about 0-60 times!

Monkie was an idiot and the first thing I did as a mod was ban his dumb ***. It was entertaining to argue with him for a while but he contributed nothing except lies. Is he still active on the Mustang boards or was he banned from all of them also?

He was worshipped because of his car, but it was funny his cocky attitude was not to be found. He asked a lot of questions, wondered why his car was so slow (when over here bragged about how fast it was) and never really contributed. He still has the car as of a year or so ago, its blue with flames now, and a body kit, but as far as anything else I havent seen or taken the time to see if he posts or not! Stupid people drive ALL kinds of cars!

Hey cormyr, how much did that 383 cost you? I was looking to make about the power you are when I build my 383, only I was going to go with a carb.

the complete engine including heads, intake and machine work came in around $5800 but that was doing assembly myself and getting some deals on parts. it can be done quite a bit cheaper but i really didnt cut corners.

Yea that doesn't sound like a bad price for everything and I wouldn't cut corners either. I'd like to do it right the first time. Are you happy with the setup or is there anything you'd change? Thanks

im pretty happy with the setup. it runs great for street and is 100% emissions legal. it does run out of headroom around 6300rpms tho. for more top end i would have gone with a miniram and bigger cam/heads but that would be a trade-off for street so i guess based on my goal it came out pretty much exactly what i was looking to build. if in the future i do change intakes, the bottom end is all set up for high revving.

Well, me and some of my freinds bought a JUNK festiva body for like 50 bucks, and were sticking a late model 302 in it.

one of the many problems with that setup is the short wheelbase makes the car very unstable. pretty much a death trap with that much power.

Well, we took the shell of the car and stuck it on a shortened fox body fram. The driveshaft is like 2 ft long lol

my friend has a vortec blown intercooled dual overhead cammed 98 cobra that he'll run you. That should be a good race...

I hope you would win !

Unfortunately you would have to drive to California first...
