crossfire got put out

i was driving home yesterday and some kid in one of those new crossfires starts trying to run with me.we get to a stop and he`s revving at me like crazy so i say screw it.to my surprise i stomp this guy bad.we ran for a about 1000 feet and we shut down.i tried to give a friendly wave goodbye but the guy wouldn`t even look at me.what are these cars supposed to run?i thought for a 30k dollar car it would put up more of a fight.who knows

The only American sports car without a V8 that could move out of it's own way was the Buick Grand National. That's the only one I can think of anyway.

Isn't the TTA the same thing. Same motor at least. I wouldn't call the GNX a sports car either, but that was the only one I could think of.

I would call it a "muscle car". The Grand Nationals were the Muscle Cars of the 1980's for sure. Even with a puny 231 cubic inch intercooled (1986 and up) 3.8 Turbo V6. It would blow the Vettes, Stangs and Fbodys away. Those things hit mid 13s from the factory. With some modding they would hit 11s. I would take the TTA over the GN. Better looking and puts that power on the ground better then a GN would. Plus its a 3rd gen

i really could`nt believe that the crossfire was that slow.i know it had a stick by the way he was shifting.i read up on these cars before they came out and chrysler was saying it was the american equivalent of a mercedes.( yeah i know they`re one in the same)i mean by the time the light turned green i had like a car and a half on him and it pretty much stayed that way.damn shame really,i thought they were pretty nice looking cars.

They are on par with weak L98 cars and 305 TPI cars. They usually run high 14's fairly easy. Nice kill

If you had a car and a half on him by the time the light hit green, you left early

There aren't many cars that will beat you off the line. If you guys had gone a bit further, he probably would have caught and passed you.

it was a figure of speech but you know what i mean.as far as catching up and passing me i don`t know,it didn`t seem like he was reeling me in at all.it pretty much stayed at least 3 cars back the whole time.who knows probably a crappy driver all in all it was fun.

Wasnt the mustang SVO pretty quick, the turbo ones? Or the GMC Syclone, or Typhoon or whatever it was. Those were something to have I'm told.

Yep, but they all had a turbo.

I bet the SRT-4 Neon is faster than the Crossfire.

If he was shifting then he has the regular Crossfire, not the SRT6. The regular Crossfire makes about 215HP and will run the 1/4 in mid to high 14's (so Stu, yes, the SRT4 is a bit quicker, stock for stock). But Chrysler also makes an SRT6 version of the Crossfire, automatic only, but since it's supercharged it makes 330HP and will run the 1/4 right around 13 flat. Handles much better too.

Either way, the Crossfire is built on the previous generation Mercedes SLK platform.

It gets boring being right all the time.

Yeah i ran up one of the 215 hp ones, was a stick for sure, and we just stayed even with each other. Which sounds right from peoples claims to high 14s, since my best run is a low 15. Good kill man
