The non converts run high 11's. So say low 12s for the converts. They make 400 hp i think.

Only the Z06s are that fast as far as I know. The non-Z06 C5s run in the 12s somewhere.

wait....what....no they don't. C-5 vettes have 345-350hp stock at the crank.

C-5 Vettes run about 13.5 in the 1/4 mile, maybe even better with a good driver.

The C6 vettes have the 400hp LS2 engine...

An auto C5 vert vette is a mid/low 13 second car. A C5 ZO6 is a low 12 second car. An LS2 C6 is a mid 12 second car and a ZO6 C6 is a high 11 second car.

Your race sounds about right assuming your 355 can propell your car faster than mid 13's.

On average they have been known to run low 13's but I've seen good drivers run into the mid 12's easliy. Also everyone that knows anything about LS1's is that once they have been broken in they make 400hp at the crank. This is a fact that has been proven time and time again. An I'm not just talking about vette LS1's regular bone stock Z28's!

Wait? Really, thats kinda weird I thought they were rated 350hp, but then I hear some people running ridiculously high numbers such as 375hp STOCK...

I think the most I've ever seen a stock LS1 dyno was 325 out of an 01 SS with a 6-speed. That's definetly less than 400. Most will dyno about 305 with a 6-speed. That's around 350.

The freaks might dyno 400 gross hp measured the same way they used to measure it back in the late 60s LOL

The LS1 is a great motor sure, but it takes every bolt-on to hit 350 rwhp. That's pretty close to 400 crank, but no way will it do it stock and just "broken in"

My buds stock '02 SS dyno'd 325 and 338 at the wheels. Assuming roughly 18% parasitic loss you have 384hp and 400lb ft. There is more than one magazine test where they strapped the GM crate LS1 (non LS6 intake or exhaust manifold LS1) to an engine dyno. Each test recorded numbers right at the 400hp mark. IIRC, a stock LS6 made almost 460.

LS1's did very slightly over the years and not all years dyno'd the same (all dyno's aren't the same either). As an average 300 at the wheels appears to be a good reference. That varies crank output from 370 to 400 which countless magazines and modders alike have validated.

A stock LS2 with essentially the same drivetrain (T56) puts down 340 to 350 in a GTO. The IRS of those cars increases the parasitic losses slightly. It is not to far off to guess crank output to be near 420hp or more. IIRC the LS7 in the new ZO6 put down 445hp which means that the LS7 is really making 530hp or so.

I have seen similar rwhp numbers, which would put them at about 375 fwhp, definately under rated. Also I believe the Fbodies and Vettes werent much different in the 1/4 mile (in the C5 years). Figure low 13s for a good guess, which definately isnt bad!

the fastest bone stock C5 times i have heard of and came across are 12.7 at 113mph. several other ones are 12.8's-13.0 at 110-112mph. but thats in good conditions and a damn quick driver.

most average joes will do low 13's, in the 13.2-13.4 range at 107-108mph or about that.

its tricky to launch them on those street tires.
but one with drag radials at my track has done some high 12's.

I just stop by a grocery store and looked at a hot rod magazine there was a article about the LS7 crate engine making 540hp stock. Then those techs added a cam and headers to it an it made over 600hp! If you can't buy the car buy the engine!

Then I read another mag showing the z06 beating the viper and losing to the GT500 by .1 sec in the 1/4 mile but it was a full sec faster than both cars going through a road course. That car is by far the sickest vette ever!

Every new car is going to be faster than the old ones... its a beauty of technology! Hell the minivans of today usually run better 1/4 times than some of the muscle cars of back then!
