I would hoep if they are both stock the Camaro would win considering I think Valores are heavier.

I'd say you can beat the dodge, I had a few 318 dodge cars from that era (mid 70's to mid eighties) and none of them were really anything that was remotely quick.
I also had a couple 305 camaros, while not fast by any means they were faster than the similar era dodge cars that i had with the 318.

Um, its actually spelled VOLARE. And I wouldnt get too cocky or confident with that LG4. That 318 might give you a better run than you think. Go for it and see what happens.

4speed car huh? that is kinda unique, better be careful if it is a stick...
if it is one of those super awesome road runner Volares with the cool louvers, stripes, and spoiler you better watch out. those things with the Lean Burn are pretty fast, I think the stripes actually add like 50hp or something like that.

i have an 84' Z28 that i got to go 16.03 at 85.21mph with a 2.35 60ft 100% bone stock. it has a 700R-4 and a peg leg 3.23 rear. your Berlinetta should run something similar. i recommend manually shifting the auto around 4200/4300rpms as the factory shift points are way to low even for the LG4

man i just looked the volare up, good grief it's ugly. 318's never have been a very strong motor even when compaired to a 305. it think you got this one.

just went and did a little research. the volare weighed approx. 3400lbs. with the v8 option, dry. so add in 50lbs. of fuel and average 175lbs. driver and you have a 3625lbs. race weight. the 318 makes a SCREAMING 145bhp@4000rpm and a stump pulling 245ftlbs.@1600rpms. assuming 18% drivetrain loss he's putting down a solid 118.9RWHP. this should net him (assuming perfect traction, and weather conditions) an 18.197 ET @probably in the neighborhood of 72-74mph.
now, knowing that my friends 84 berlinetta weighs in at a wopping 3400lbs. with him in it (car has a factory fiberglass hood and no a/c, and he's skinny). we'll add 100lbs. to that total weight to compensate for the minor weight reduction and skinny driver to have a full factory race weight of 3500lbs. (acceptable for a non gfx car?) the 1984 8.6:1 c/r lg4 made an astounding 150bhp @ 4000rpm and 240ftlbs. @ 1600rpms. again, assume 18% drivetrain loss and your at 123RWHP. with optimal traction and weather conditions, it's safe to assume the car would run a 17.783 at around 77mph.
if the cars are stock for stock and in both in good tune, the camaro will win, but only by about a car length...but it will be like pulling teeth watching this agonizingly slow race.

I think you'll walk him... very... very... slowly.
I saw an '85 Z28 with an LG4, flowmaster and open element filter dyno at a whopping 130 rwhp, 230 rwtq with 200k on the clock
