Mischief V: Dynasty... 3rd gen smokes exotics.

I just got the lastest Mischief DVD today and saw the most awesome thing. They were racing around Detroit with a few exotics and all got smoked by a yellow Z28, 91-92. The list of exotics included 1 Mercedes AMG, a Murcielago, a Gallardo, and an NSX. You could see true duals hanging down underneath the 3rd gen. His exhaust was so loud, it drowned out all the other cars as he passed them. Owners name was listed as Mike N. Claims to have 900hp and the way he walked all 4 cars, I'd believe it. Now Im curious if the owner of that Z is on this board or not. He's not part of the Mischief group and just happened to see them out running that night. If I can figure out how to get the clip off the DVD, I'll post it up somewhere. Shots were done from in car in the NSX and the AMG.

Ok, I just re-watched the clip and my memory isnt quite as good as I thought. There was a Bently Arnage T-24 (one of 24 in the world) and the Mercedes is an SL55 AMG. The 2 Lambos and NSX are correct though. Doesnt sound like the 3rd gen had any power adders like turbo or SC. He could have been spraying, but I couldnt tell. He rolls up on them while cruising and hits it a little. Scene cuts and they are stopped at a light, lined up 4 across, no 3rd gen in sight. They take off on green, Murcielago and SL55 take an early lead. 3rd gen comes roaring out of nowhere from behind and passes all 4, weaving in between them as he flies through the pack. Later the stop to talk to him, and he gets out. T-topped car with black interior. Hard to tell, but looks like most of the interior is intact. 6 or 8 point roll cage installed. The dvd is copy protected, so I cant rip the scene off it.

That's pretty cool, but btw, NSX's are slow and hardly an exotic.

You know the NSX aren't the fastest sport cars according to the magazines but when I saw one it made me turn my head repeatedly! I would love to drive one.

I know NSX's arent the fastest or even exotic, but it was there in the pack (at the start, before it got left behind, lol) Of course, it wasnt stock either, but still got left behind.

Everyone creams their panties when a stock anything runs in the 12's. Unless it's an NSX. I don't get it.

Also, appartently I'm not as up to date as you guys on what requirements need to be made to make a car an exotic. Someone please list them for me.

An Acura is not an exotic. Nice styling, high price. That's all it really has in common with true exotics. The Viper and Z06 at least are both fast, but neither are exotics being a Dodge and a Chevrolet. An exotic is usually referred to as a European made car like a Ferrari or Lamborghini.

The difference between the brands being that anyone can go down to the dealership and buy an Acura, a Dodge or a Chevy. Lambo's and Ferrari's entire lineup is extremely select and limited. They will never mass market a car to the general public. That is what makes NSX's, Vipers and Z06s NOT exotics, besides having an extremely large presence in the American market. Also, every exotic I can think of is FAST. An NSX is not fast.

It's a fine line though, I agree.

nsx might not be all that fast in a straight line, but well driven on a road course, its handling is exceptional.. just underpowered when competing against gallardo, murcielago, top end ferraris, and such.

Keep in mind that the NSX is only underpowered now. Just like the blessed Third Generation Camaro, it was fantastic in it's day. It's sad really. Honda built the NSX, forever changed the standard for all exotics to come after that, then ignored it for ten years.

No one complains that Lotus cars are slow.

I just checked Teckademics and after a huge 64mb download, the Z28 is in fact in the trailer for about 4 seconds at 4:10. Before the street footage is some shots of the 2 lambos at thier house with the chapter title "Woodward dream cruise" It also has a few shots of the lambos from behind and the SL55 sliding through an intersection. Unfortunatly, they dubbed music over the video footage. The actual dvd has raw sound. I highly recommend anyone pick this up it's one of the best Mischief dvds yet. The first is still the best, then Dynasty, Destroy, Invasion, and 3000 last. I still need to get Mayhem to complete my collection up to date.

Yeah, I don't think many people don't know what a Lotus is. There was one fast Lotus from the mid 90s. 400hp in like a 2200 lb car.

I don't get how an NSX runs 12s, either, to be honest. They are underrated on horsepower or over rated on ETs. 290hp/224lb-ft in a 3200 lb car.

Only rich people are going to be familiar with something like a Lotus, this is a 3rd gen Camaro forum man, we're all broke. Besides, what does knowing about a certain make/model car have to do with being a "car person"? I bet you alot of Lotus drivers out there dont know jack about their car, but they drive a Lotus, are they car people?

The only fast NSX's I've seen were in Japan, and they were all roadcourse fast not 1/4 mile fast. Not all cars are built to do the 1/4.

Just because you aren't rich, doesn't mean you can't be familar with different types of cars. It'd be one thing if people didn't know what a Zanda was or a Koeneggs (however you spell it) but Lotuses are common. I see them every once in a while. Hell I raced an Esprit when I first turboed my car. Maybe it's because they use Ford, Honda, and Toyota motors in the states and not Chevy.

I never said they were common. What I'm really surprised at, is how you two are telling me that I shouldn't be surprised if people don't know Lotus, yet you both are familar with the brand.

Who are these mystery cave dwellers that you keep defending?

You just said they were common!:

I can show you plenty of 16 year olds that if you ask what a lotus is they wouldnt be able to tell you. Unless you're in a city that has a lot of variety in cars or you know about cars, you most likely wont know what one is.

I'll say that the average person who doesn't know what a Lotus is has no clue what a NSX is, in your defense, and probably aren't much of a car person. The NSX is only more well known because it's made by Honda, who has a very solid following of tuners. I've never met a Lotus tuner, or even enthusiast.

Okay, obviously I did say common. What I meant was common relative to other exotics. Like how many of you have ever seen a Saleen S7 driving around on the street? I haven't and probably never will either.

Anyway, you can ask a 16 year-old almost anything and they won't know what you are talking about. Sorry high schoolers, but it's true.

Bottom line on the NSX, it's ABOVE the F-bodies on the Babescammer food chain. Yes it's below cars like Lambo, Ferrari, Porsche, but will ALWAYS be above the F-bodies. Not all women are car people, but they all know the lines of the food chain. LOL
