Well to be honest, when you have a slow car like me, you dont exactly pull up next to LS1 T/A's and race. Its a waste of Petrol at $3/gal. Plus, its the close races that are fun. If im going to be obliterated then its not fun, but if something will give me a run for my money then I get the most pleasure out of that.

There's always been posts like that. It's pretty funny actually if an outsider was to be reading TGO and see that stuff.

The avg. time at performancetrucks is faster then here I'd say. And that's a bunch of trailer haulin 5000lb rides...

there used to be quite a few fast cars on here they all seemed to have dissapeared..

You're in the wrong forum. Go to the drag racing forum where everyone isn't still in high school.

Wow, that's awful. You only hit mid 13s with a 454?

EDIT: Nevermind... I thought you were talking about a 454 in a third gen.

There are, they're just all on the OTHER racing board or they don't post at all.

Most of the impressive cars on TGO don't show up in discussions this forum. Most of the cars in this forum are 305/auto cars, thus the questions about slow cars.

hey, thats a great question. now i have one for you, why come on here just to be a ****? If someone with a 16 sec. car wants to post up there races, who cares? you got to start somewhere, not everyone can afford to build 12 sec. daily drivers. Hell , if the six cylindr guys want to post up something about beating a focus thats fine. No one should be knocking on them just because they have a slow car.

In owning this car you have to admit these things.

A. 15/17 year olds with 305TBIs or 150+K Lb9's.
B. Most worthwhile Iroc-Z's are wrecked.
C. Most Camaro's in general are **** boxes
D. Anything that is fast stays on the strip..

No offense but reading about a race between a car slower than my moms DD and my dads work truck is NOT good reading. Im sure he posts these things because they are happy and all, but a 16 or 17 second race isnt even fun. The other day merging onto the highway I was in my sisters Blazer (her winter truck) and I "beat" a newer Camry. Thats about the same as a 16 second Fbody running a Focus. Watching those races sucks, driving in them sucks, why would reading about them be any better?

Just this past Sun I was in my brothers 06 going to a car show. A guy in an older SHO was toying with me and at one point I tried to run him. He stayed a car length back at the light and when the guy in front of me pulled away and got into the turn lane I thought it was go time. Needless to say the race was pretty sad, but nothing exciting to brag about and thats a possible 13 second car vs a possible 14 second car.

Heres my theory, the fast cars usually stay on the track, and the guys that own them stay in the garage and off the messga boards. Either that or its just too hard to go fast in a thirdgen and everyones selling them for 4th gens and Mustangs....

I'd say there are way more LG4 cars in threads on here than the LB9ers. The ulmighty LG4 made it into most of the cheap V8 3rdgens.

Any IROC-z that isn't wrecked is at least fairly worthwhile, right? :P

Ironically my l98 iroc is wrecked... (chassis is ruined) but she still runs like a champ. She was a runner too its so sad... Maybe when i get out of college ill bring her back (shes sitting in my fraternitys backyard currently)

Beat some wrxs lt1 camaros srt-4s misc boosted imports and every mustang GT including a few cobras ive come across(95-99, the newer boosted ones chewed me up). Course like everyone else ive lost a few along the way...

I have a L98 GTA and i consider it decently fast for a stock car, especially from the 80s. If I had the time and money to make it faster, I would. But just because its only a 14 sec car, doesnt mean I cant race it against similar power cars since im not dumb enough to try to run vettes. And when I do race, I come here and post it. Apparently a lot of ppl dont mind reading 14 second races, because the races get replys. Which some of you that are complaining are the ones that reply to them.

But to anyone who has to complain about my 14 second races or anyone elses:
A) Dont read it when you see my/their name under topic starter
or
B) Buy me/us some mods and I'll/we'll go race faster cars. Until then, Im paying my way through college so eventually I can mod my cars the way I want.

It just comes down to money. Go to LS1Tech.com most of those guys got nice rides which are pretty damn fast. Mustangs, well you don't need much money to make one fast. That's why they are everywhere.

This board is 90% teenagers that are broke though, and thus, we get to read about how some kid raced his dad in the family minivan and actually started pulling away up top...

Mine more or less does too... Its one thing to own one car, another to own multiple fast ones (meaning a 12 second DD and a 10 second toy)!

Yeah, it only means you have more $$$ to spend on automobiles.

EDIT: Nothing wrong with that, by the way. I'd love to have a pair of 12 second cars. But it ain't braggin rights. Tuning can go a LONG ways, but we all know that these races boil down to who has more $$$ invested. Not to say $$$ = go fast, because a lot of well invested older smallblock V8s are stuck in the 13s, but in most instances, you can't run 12s on a daily driver without dropping a G or 2 into your car. And if you got 3k or so, then you can go boosted and REALLY get moving.

good point.. if its about some slow car vs slow car like the above examples, i wont even bother reading it for the most part.

i usually read threads where theres a L98 involved or something. i have an L98 and am curious as to how they stack up to the competition. so i read those threads

around me, every one is doing some 4th gen or a late model stang with motor swaps or blowers

What do you want, thirdgens had 17 different engines. Just because someone has a slower car, does not mean they can't post. If you don't like it, don't click thread. Problem solved. There are a lot more annoying things in this section of the boards than that.

If you want to see some "fast" cars, check out the "Organized Drag Racing" board. IMO 14 second cars aren't even fast anymore, so that includes stock LT1's also. Thirdgens are not alone.

True and I give him credit, however I don't dog two 15 second cars running each other, more power to them

That's not really true but then again most people who have fast cars don't waste all day on the internet posting up all over the place bragging.

This thread isn't going anywhere good.
