beat an early 3rd gen camaro

Hey all,

Unfortunately, I had to take down one of our own, BUT it wasnt in my iroc.

It was in my 2001 dodge neon.

Yeah yeah, I know, its a neon, BUT I have done some mods to her and she hits about 175hp.
*header
*headerback exhaust
*free flow cat converter
*unorthadox pulleys (crank and underdrive)
*msd coil and spark plug wires
*iridium plugs
*full aem cold air intake
*dual exhaust
*5 speed

(full body kit, lowered 4 inches, srt-4 wing, I get revs thrown at me all the time, because people think its an actual srt-4)...I wish...

Anyways, I was just cruising home tonight from work, and this joker (thats a nice way to put what he really was) pulls up to me and says, hey rice boy, whats that thing got.

I laugh at him and say, more that that piece can handle.

He gets all pissy and says at green we go.

I laugh, look around make sure we are safe to go. He sounds like he has the car pinned into 7000rpm. I thought it was gonna explode. The car sounded like he had no exhaust (and no, it didnt sound good), exhaust leak was the LEAST of his worries.

Anyways, light turns green, and before i know it, I have maybe 3 cars on this guy.
As i hit 2nd, i pull another 1/2 to full car on him, going into 3rd i shut down (about 110km/h) and i pulled in to get gas.

This guy pulls in after me and starts freaking out at me accusing me of cheating because i didnt tell him it was an srt-4.

I laugh at him, (clearly its not, no turbo blow off valve or turbo for that matter). I pop my hood to prove his car is just slow and hes like, well what do you have done then. There is no way a 4 cylinder can beat me.

I tell him what I have done to it (as mentioned) and he still doesnt believe me.

ANyways, it turns out that this guy has an 83-85 camaro (non iroc) with a 305 and a set of mr gasket valve covers. Nothing else is done.

I made a joke and told him that hes lucky it wasnt my iroc that he raced because the outcome would have been an even a disappointment for him.

I probably (i dont race the iroc often) would have beaten him by at least 7 cars if i were in the iroc, but I will never know.

However, I MISS my iroc. I havent driven it since last year when they pulled my plates because my ebrake didnt hold her. Oh well, gives me time to save for my new CRATE motor :P

so why lock the thread? cuz i beat a car that I own? use some common sense, our cars arent the fastest on the road.

I know this, and as soon as you learn it, you will be alot better off

I did the exact samething when I owned a 95 RS eclipse an raced that same year camaro. Man those things are slow but my 305 Iroc could put 7 lengths on that eclipse easy. That was the same engine thats in your neon too.

The Neons are FWD? If his car was running properly and if you both would of went from a dig at the same time, he would of jumped infront of you instantly. Ive raced a NEON in my LO3 exact same mods as you described you have on your car. I beat the guy about 3 cars ahead, he wouldnt gain anymore.

Nice kill. Put that Ultra modder(Mr. Gasket Valve Covers) in his place! You know what I just realized... The war between imports and domestics is just like Star Wars... I dont feel like explaining how... but hey if you got what I was saying more power to ya. Use the Force.

hehehe Canada, Eh?
