03 SVT vs 84 Berlinetta

My buddy and I have been bench racing for a while now as I have been doing the build-up on my Camaro. His car is a stock '03 cobra with the 6 speed and street slicks (275/35/R18). I just finished the break in on my new ZZ4 with an Air Gap RPM intake, TES headers, and thunder series 650 carb. I have not taken the car to the track since the build, which also included intrax springs, SFCs, poly bushing kit, tubular trailing arms, adjustable torque arm and track bar. I stole both sway bars off of a 92 z-28, and put some new 255/40/R17 BFG rubber on it. On a nice straight way, from a dead stop to about a mile out, what do you guys think will happen? I know Ive got him in the twisties, I had the car aligned and rear end centered last week, the geometry was perfect afterwards. How quick was the 03 stock in the quarter? Thanks all, hopefully we can have some stang meat this weekend

Stock 03 Cobra with an average driver 12.7-13.0. Add some bolt ons low 12s or better!

I still don't know about the mustang, but I did manage to smoke a '99 WS6, once I figured out that my redline isn't until 5,500 RPMs, but the shift light is still going at 4000. How fast are those supposed to be? He still had the hook-up on me with street slicks and I lit mine up... Now all I have to do is find gas that is lower than 3.25 a gallon. Its gone up .75 cents in less than two weeks!!!!! WTF??

A stock 03 Cobra is a good bit quicker than a stock LS1 WS6. Like 25thmustang said, they're easy high 12 second cars, and trap around 112 or a little higher. NO WAY will that ZZ4 put up any kind of fight. If you're racing from a stop to a mile marker, he will likely be so far ahead you'll need binoculars to see him.

Agreed. Your car may be lighter but his is making 100+ more hp at the wheels. Your only shot is from a dig where wheel hop could give you the edge. From a roll it will be ugly for you.

Tell him he has no reason to keep that car stock if he's racing it.

Just a pulley can make a good difference in the outcome of your race.

if he managed to "smoke" a 2000 WS6 (which are ~mid-low 13 cars stock), and termis are running high 12s stock, why couldnt it be a decent race..

From a dig maybe you might have a chance assuming you nail the launch and he wheel hops thru 2nd. Hes got a lot more power and youve got a little less weight.

Also a simple pulley/ exhaust/CAI/tune will net him 450+rwhp.

Smoke him now while he doesnt have the basic mods!

FWIW, you don't just throw pullies on these cars. They have other bottlenecks just like any other car that should go first. My close friend has a cat-back and CAI on his '03 and dyno'd 420hp. A pully swap requires a dyno tune and other supporting mods. Most pullied terminators will produce 460 to 500 rwhp with KB or Whipple cars making 550+. It will be a close race from a dig but not much of a race once they get going.

Yeah you know what I mean. Glad you clarified it though, I do have a habit of not explaining things on the internet but in real life you can't really shut me up.
