From a dig the race will be close but as speeds increase the '97 will slowly pull away.

The '97 will have 3.23 or 3.42 Gearing, You should have 2.73's if you're stock, the '97 has 200 Hp, you have 170 Hp... both cars probably weigh in around 3300-3400 lbs. If they suck at driving you'll win, otherwise the numbers are well in favor of the '97.

Re: 97 v6 camaro vs 91 v8 rs
The 97 will leave you. Especially if like the above poster said if it has 3.42's. I had a 97 with the performance package. You'll be able to tell if he has it by dual muffler pipes & 4 wheel disc brakes and 16 inch Z-28 wheels. If his car has those three things he has 3.42's and will beat you. I've raced a few TBI 305 cars and everytime my 3.8 got a quik jump on them and they never regained it. Race him yeah but I wouldn't bet money on it LOL

Re: 97 v6 camaro vs 91 v8 rs
thats whats helped my 98 out so much mine got the y87 performance package 3.42 posi disc and dual tip exhaust ive beat 3 or 4 tbi cars cosest race was against a boy that was a year behind me in school he had a 295 rear tire ad straightpipe exhaust and a open ar breather ok still shouldnt have given me a run but between his tire size and lack of power he couldnt spin and i stalled it to about 2500 and spun for about 20-30 ft and had to play catch up

Not fair?
Why not, she's just a stock V-6.
Thanks for getting me that switch, I didn't install it yet.
I was planning on this weekend, but it looks like rain.
Oh ya, what's this "old Man" crap?
Ha!
Thanks again,
George
