Re: 92 Z VS. FOX
He's going to slaughter you. I had a 93 5 speed GT once all stock and 350 f-bodies have to work hard to beat it was never a easy win for them, and it only happened off the line. With his mods pray for engine failure on his part to win LOL .... I'm not a big ford fan by no means. But in all honesty you have to give them mustangs credit they are quik for what they are actually wish I had one with some nice mod's.

Re: 92 Z VS. FOX
well since his is a stick I might have a chance cause I know he can drive but when he is nervous he misses shifts.

Re: 92 Z VS. FOX
383 with 4:10 gears, some headers, cam, aftermarket TPI system, better question would be what won't get me the win LOL ... You are in need of serious combination of stuff simple as that.Sorry guy but a .49 cent taco ain't gonna work you need the big enchilada ... or just drop a taco bell on your car LOL.

Re: 92 Z VS. FOX
a 100 shot will not hurt your bottom end any more than boltons + heads/cam would. youre going to need either to beat your friends setup, or possibly both

Re: 92 Z VS. FOX
So true, I hammer my engine with big shots of nitrous all the time and it still loves me. There is one possibility for a win, hope he runs on street tires and you get yourself a nice set of sticky drag radials, then run him in the 8th and pray before and during the run.

Firstly if you wanted to keep up for cheap well then nitrous is definitely the way to go. If your afraid of nitrous:

Well you already have a vortec headed 350... a camshaft headers more stall and intake manifold(of choice id go hsr b/c of price) would be a good start. Then slicks and id say it would be a good race.

The only thing your friends mustang doesnt have is aftermarket heads it seems...

Re: 92 Z VS. FOX
His car should only be somewhere in the 13s, not that hard for an Fbody to match, I sure hope. Get some DRs, converter, and go at it from a dig.

Re: 92 Z VS. FOX
Quick question, exactly what setup do you have on that Vortec 350? Did you swap the entire engine over into your thirdgen? Or did you swap a carb intake onto it?

Re: 92 Z VS. FOX
its not all that hard to get a l98 z into the 13's were that stang is. theres a million mods.. start with exhaust, stall, gears, intake porting, cam, ,maybe some head work... pretty much the same mods the mustang has.. duh.

Re: 92 Z VS. FOX
8T9 BANDIT it's easy to see why you're on probation. Yeah go ahead and port your Vortec heads so you can screw up the excellent flow they already have, then while your at it port out the composite intake you can do that with a nail file, I bet you can take .001in off of the .010in thick walls of it before you run into issues... duh. This guys combo is an oddball, and it's not all that easy to get an L98 into the 13's plus who's to say this mustang's running high 13's in the first place? I say go prepared for war don't count on assumptions. The engine in your car makes 250hp at 4400rpm and 335lbs at 2800 so it's a bit more powerful than a stock l98 but has alot more potential in it. How hard was it to swap all of the truck injection into the thirdgen?

Re: 92 Z VS. FOX
I agree when I said 13s I did not necessarily mean 13.9... With those mods and a good driver middle to lower 13s on a street tire shouldnt be too difficult.

stop fighting like kids

Also I do not know how hard it was to swap it in but it doesn't have the fuel injection from the truck it has a TPI unit on it.

Re: 92 Z VS. FOX
well heres my 2 cents.....my cousin has a 65 mustang with a 302 with the same running gear basicly....except he has some ford racing heads....my car is a balanced 355 with a carb.....i can spank his a s s in the eight......my advice dont race him in the quarter cause i can barely keep up in the 1/4.......although he is running 17s and will not be able to get as good tractions as a set of 15s.....hint hint......plus if you are runnin a auto you will have an advantage on the stick shift

Re: 92 Z VS. FOX
My buddy has basically the same mods in his 88 notchback 5.0 and he's only in the mid to low 13's. Use some nitrus eventhough I'm against it and beat him, shouldnt be too hard his car isnt crazy fast.
