yep. Anything could go wrong, and when there is so much at stake, it probably will. I think you would take him though.

hell I said nothing about racing for titles, he was talking big **** in front of his friends and said "hell i'm so sure I would win I'll put up my title" I WILL NOT race him for titles. lol my rear end is like a bomb waiting to blow behind my motor, with my luck it would go while racing him.

Re: How Bad do think i'll beat him

that rearend will last nearly forever with street tires on it.
both cars with street tires, its a toss up. if you can feather it, you should be able to outrun him, but a stock LS1 auto should be able to knock down an 8.80 or so, no problem.

why are you running 3.42's?

just seemed like a mis-match to me, since 230cc heads on a 388cid motor will want to turn some rpms. were you planning on swapping them out?

yeah I want to go to the track bad but I don't think thats a good idea right now, if I go to the track ill want to put on my new set of dot slicks I have in the shop if I do that I think my first run will be my last. I plan on going to a moser 9'' 31 spline axels and 4.11 gears. you very right the car LOVES rpm 3500 and up it will keep going it's had a few trips to 6500 and was still pulling.

Go ahead and race him. If you get him off the line buy 2 or more cars you should win. Thats how we beat them here in Chi-town. And thats with a 355 and DRs. Its all in the first 330ft.

Steal his pride, and his ride.

Seriously, I wouldn't run for pinks no matter how much of a sure thing it might be. And this is a pretty sure thing. I would be pretty confident of 11's w/ good rubber at the track. (Assuming the rear end doesn't blow) I don't see a nearly stock LS1 touching that.

Makes it a closer race. I think the LS1 would need more to run down an 11.5/1 big cam 388inch motor. Get some drag radials and run from a dig!

If they are running street tires that would make the ls1 lose more traction. There's no way a almost stock ls1 with an average driver is going to run 11.s on street tires. Get some good tires and VHT then go out and getem for 2 0r 3 hundred.

I don't know about that. My car I broke one but we got a built 92' rs with all the mods you can do to a 10 bolt and with about 80-100 passes, dynos and street races with drag radials it still holding up. The car is putting down 370rwhp and 375rwtrq. BTW he raced a modded 2000 LS1 in the eighth last night and beat him by a fender.

there is always exeptions, but 9 times out of 10, the rears that break on the street tires had been wounded previously on slicks.
bolt-on LS1 cars have gone high 10's and 1.4x 60's with 10 bolt rears. and a bolt on LS1 car could be making around 370rwhp.

The LS1 he raced put down 400rwhp (I put together both cars) but the tune isn't right yet. His low in trq isn't what it should be. The RS got him out the hole by a car and held him off. They will race again on the 28th when both cars are right. I'll try to post a vid.

well the car never had slicks, all it was a 92 305 TBI 5 speed with just a couple of bolt ons. I was at the track went to take off and started to spin, I let of the gas a little and got right back in to it. at that time the tires hooked and kaboom nothing like coasting down a track hearing the announcer in the background saying "somethings wrong with that camaro", Lucky it was before the time when everybody and their brother carried a camcorder or I'm sure it would of made it to you tube (then again I never looked). man I couldn't get low enough in my seat never, mind the fact that I was stupid enough to use my daily driver . it may of been 1 in a million but still Murphy's law got me in the rear.

Re: How Bad do think i'll beat him

Did you race this guy or not??? Don't listen to all these Camry drivers that somehow got into Camaro's. When you get called out to race it's simple.

2 Choices:

1) Get to the line get ready to heel toe your way to the finish line

or

2) be a big fat pu$$ and bow down.

If you are #2 then you should go to thew nearest honda/toyota/kia dealer and pick you up a car. Because that is the true "dumbass" You have a Hot Rod act like it.

That's Gospel!!
