14.3 @ 95.95mph bone stock lt1 4th gen

Is this what they are sopposed to do?The only reason Im mentioning this on this forum is because my other car is my iroc and im trying to figure if my iroc would be faster with the lt1 then my 4th gen would. stock for stock.

(note the 4th gen lt1 car is an auto. and if or when I put an lt1 in the iroc it would still be an auto.)

Re: 14.3 @ 95.95mph bone stock lt1 4th gen

That sounds about right. I've heard of them going high 13s stock but I would say a 14.3 is within reason for a bone stock LT1.

A cam swap is what makes the LT1 shine.

3rd gen with an LT1 should be faster. They are a bit lighter. The 4ths are on the porky side.

I think those are the m6 cars that pull high 13s. I've found a top end form AI for lt1s that i like. Ive seen the setup Im talking about run 10.80s @126 in a m6 fourth gen. 7500 rpm 500rwhp. thats cooking with beans!

Re: 14.3 @ 95.95mph bone stock lt1 4th gen

i've seen 4th gen Lt1 cars run faster than that, both auto and manual...but manuals are generally quicker

my buddies auto car however with full exhaust/tune and air filter went 12.96 at 106.xx in good air... 95 Z28, full weight on heavy Z06 wheels street tires and stock trans. no converter stock 3.42 gears from a different manual car's rear end he upgraded to a newer rear to get the LS1 bigger brakes

That little bit of extra gear didnt hurt his time at all. Ive seen a lt1 Z28 with 3.23s, 3000 stall, slp intake, ported tb,full exhaust, drag radials, bolt on suspention, and a tune do a best of 13.0.that was without his 100 shot nitrous. dont remember the trap speed.

Re: 14.3 @ 95.95mph bone stock lt1 4th gen

Ive turned higher trap speeds with that car. 97mph is my highest so far. Its just my daily driver. It has the original wires and probley the original optispark. my water pump went out in that car a short while ago.some say that means the optispark will follow shortly after. how would I know if it is going out? My car does run slightly chopey at idle. The other lt1s that I have seen race at portland international raceway have turned about the same times as I have, although they looked like they had the same amount miles as my car on them. my lt1 has 145k on the ticker.

A few years back, our trans am club went to the drag strip.
there were 2 bone stock auto 96 Trans Ams with us, both ran a 13.6 on street tires.

My 96 TA M6 with almost all of the bolt ons ran a best of 13.2 @ 107mph on street tires.

I have to call bs on that. 13.6 is too fast for a BONE STOCK LT1 AUTO! unless they were light weight cars from the factory(ie, manual windows, no power seats,no t-tops, no ac, etc..... Im not saying you didnt see them turn the times. Im saying thier is always something overlooked. if bone stock lt1 auto cars could run 13.6 @ 109-101 then why are ls1s so popular. bone stock ls1 auto cars run 13.7s stock. Im talking power windows and all the bells and whisles. also is the track they ran at below see level? that can also move numbers around alittle. the track I ran at with my car the temp was about 55-60f. and the elevation is about 1200ft or so.

Bone stock LS1's can run high 12's.
I drove my friends 02 WS6 down the track 4 times (I had never driven it prior so I had to get used to the feel of the clutch and powerband).
1st pass was a 13.5@105 and I hit the rev limiter in 3rd gear since I thought I would make it to the end at the top of 3rd, but I was about 300ft short.
4th pass was a 13.12@109 with a 2.060ft time (BFG KDW street tires).

I am pretty sure I could have hit a high 12 had they not shut down the track early.
I could only get my Formula to hit a 15.2@93mph. My car is sooooo slow.

My car has the Auto cam in it since it was auto originally. With the mods I have, it does Dyno what the stock 90-92 TPI G92 5 speed cars do.
I have the MPH, just don't have the ET.

Re: 14.3 @ 95.95mph bone stock lt1 4th gen

A few years back there was a guy in the local F-body club that ran a 12.9 on his first pass with a stock '95 LT1 transplanted in his 89 Iroc. He had the stock 3.42 rear and T5, but added SLP headers. An LT1 swapped into a 3rd gen should be faster than any stock TPI mill, including the L98.
