hey everyone, i was just wondering, im putting together an 85 camaro (it was a 307 out of a 71 c10 pickup f$%$%$g boat anchor, 700r4 10 bolt 3.08 rear) now it has a 355 4 bolt main cast pistons crower .507 lift cam, 1.5 harland sharp roller rockers world sportsman heads (ported) edelbrock victor jr intake (ported to match heads) holley 750 double pumper holley high flow mechanical fuel pump, headman long tubes to true dual dumps, the trans is a beefed up th350 (bought from guy who ran a 9.40 1/4 mile with it) aftermarket bellhousing 10" 3600 stall reverse manual valve body, it also has a trans brake but i wont be using that, for now stock driveshaft and stock rearend, also i have a jegs tunnel mounted torque arm a spohn th350 crossmember a hurst shifter and racing seats, no back seats and no carpet

how much horsepower do you guys think?
what kind of eta should i expect?
how many passes will i get out of that stock rearend?

also i have an 88 camaro with a posi 3.23 rearend waiting to get painted, im thinking about putting the rearend in my 85, what do you guys think?

Re: what do you guys think?

yeaah its an aftermarket bellhousing, if u cut the original bellhousing off u can buy a stronger aluminum one like mine that bolts onto the trans, i wish i could send u some pics but no it isnt a scattershield.

Re: what do you guys think?

Does it bolt on to the pump housing or do you have to drill and tap new holes?

Re: what do you guys think?

im not really sure, like i said i bought it that way, the guy that i got it from said the factory bellhousings have a tendency to crack so he installed the aluminum one. if i find out i will let u know.

Re: what do you guys think?

But factory bell housings are already aluminum. I would think that if you cut off the old one then bolted on another one where the factory was a one piece cast housing you would then have weak points where it bolted up. Or the rest of the case would still be as weak as the factory bell housing was........

Re: what do you guys think?

factory th350 transmissions never came with an aluminum bell housing, they were all 1 piece cast metal, and i found out that it does bolt on to the front pump, if you looked at my trans you could see a small gap between the original metal housing and the aluminum bell housing, but it does seem like that would create a weak point, but like i said the guy ran a 9.40 1/4 mile in a 92 camaro with it which is way more power than my car is making

TH350,TH400 700R4,200M,TH250, All have one piece cast aluminum housings.........from where the tail shaft bolts on to where the bell housing bolts to the engine. Now.............some EARLY powerglides where cast iron, but never any of the other trannys
