How many current or ex-ricers on here? dont lie!
Re: How many current or ex-ricers on here? dont lie!
Mm Pistol Grip. Literally the only shifter-handle I will ever use. I bought one (same as above) after trying it out on my buddies 89GT 5.0 (He had the all black version). It was for my Z31. Let me say, my gears hated me after this upgrade, yes, this was an upgrade to me. I was slamming gears like I was a professional gearbox destroyer. One day, my IROC will see the same care.

Re: How many current or ex-ricers on here? dont lie!
My first car was an '80 Datsun 280zx. I liked it. Slow as **** though with the NA motor and automatic. Still have it. One day it will get the 283 ihave sitting in my garage.
I also have an '86 Audi 4000S. Its pretty much a POS. I intend to fix a few things and try to flip it. Otherwise I might hold onto in and turn it into a project car (VR6, quattro, coilovers, etc).

I also own a '92 VW GTI. this ones got quite a bit of work done to it. VR6 swap, 02J tranny, mk3 front subframe, mk3 rear beam, mk3 gauge cluster, straight piped techtonics exhaust, Corrado calipers/zimmerman 12" rotors, corvette sawblades, FK highsport coilovers, crystal smoked headlights/fogs/turns, smoked Hella tails, HID's, Recaro's. The list goes on. I love this car. Unfortunately it spun a rod bearing so im currently rebuilding the engine. I hope to have it back up a running soon because last year I got a magazine offer to have my car featured.

Well, being in Japan. I don't have much of an option. Can't really find a car I like... In the last year, this is my list
1995 Subaru WRX Wagon Turbo 5 speed
1996 Subaru Legacy Wagon TT 5 speed
My current car is a 1998 Subaru WRX STI running 20 PSI of boost. Very fun in the snow.

Currently have a 1988 Toyota MR2 Mk1. Wouldn't call it rice , for two distinct reasons;
1. It predates the ***** scene by at least 10 years.
2. It's more Lotus than Toyota. The only thing actually Toyota designed on it is the engine and transaxle, just like the Lotus Elise (which the MR2 was originally designed to be back in 1983). The body, suspension, steering, everything else was designed by Lotus, until they cancelled the project due to perceived lack of sales. Toyota bought out the project, having already invested a considerable amount on the drivetrain development and belief that a viable market did exist. They labeled it the MR2 (Mid engine, Rear wheel drive, 2 seat) and marketed it heavily in Japan and Europe. The North American market never did get a huge sales push, but they do still have a big following here and command respectable prices.
Add to that the performance they have: 4 wheel disc and Lotus tuned 4 wheel strut suspension, a 49/51 weight distribution, 140 mph sustained top speed capability, 2100 lb curb weight, 30 mpg, and will out handle almost anything else in stock trim on a road course. The engine is a factory forged crank and fully balanced, factory windage tray, factory oil squirters, an 8K rpm redline (10K in the Mid Atlantic Racing Series version, which is a virtually identical bottom end). Add to all this that the engine at only 1.6L is too small to qualify as a sports car for insurance classification, so you pay sub-compact insurance rates...All in a car that will demolish a C4 Corvette hands down in anything but a straight line run. It's basically everything the Fiero SHOULD have been, including made of metal instead of plastic (and a more intelligent placement of the fuel lines).
But all that aside, I love my '83 Z/28, and as soon as it's restored my '88 IROC-Z. As well as my '94 Mustang and '84 Mustang Special Service Package Texas DPS car. I don't have brand loyalty, but I will say you couldn't pay me to drive a Honda.
Honda - Japanese for "crap"
Acura - Japanese for "overpiced crap"

I used to work for Hyundai as an Asst. Parts Manager here in town and you couldn't pay me enough to buy a Tiburon. Parts are expensive as hell and they're god awful slow. Now the 2 door Genesis is a nice looking ride. I haven't driven one yet but from what I've been told they are pretty peppy cars.
