Do you or don't you?
Here's the scenario. It's early Saturday morning. Nobody else is on the road. You reach the crest of a hill and on the other side a wide open straight stretch of 2 miles. Do you nail it or do you just putter along at the speed limit?
I'll be honest, this morning I was presented with this exact scenario. Just wanted to know what the rest of you would do!

Any clear excuse for a little abuse of the go fast pedal, I'm all in. If I cared about gas mileage I'd drive a prius.

I drive my car "Spirited". That being said, I don't want a ticket and the scenario you provided just screams speedtrap around here. Our police department is going broke and i know they are not giving any warnings.

Re: Do you or don't you?
Even though I'm well past my days of being 16 and thinking every trip on paved surfaces was a race... I'd still have to give the car a chance to scream. What's that old excuse, cleaning out the carbon or something?

Re: Do you or don't you?
Looks like a pretty good spread on the votes so far. Kinda what I expected.
I too stomped on it but I had been waiting almost 18 years for the opportunity.
While I don't advocate breaking the law but there are times, hmmmm? I think we're genetically engineered to do it!
I remember something a driving instructor told me once (Jim Russel Racing School), "You can never really go fast (on the track) without a respect for the capabilities of your car. Speed without respect only slows you down". In order to gain that respect for what our cars can do I think we have to push them to their limits in order to learn what they're truly capable of. Those of us lucky enough to have a racetrack nearby should keep it there.
Other than that do it safely fella's!
