Ls1 3rd gen vs 2006 WRX Sti
I'm really close to putting an Ls1 in my camaro (college bills are the only thing keeping me from it) and a buddy of mine's daddy just got a 2006 Sti. That thing is sick but its all stock and he wants to race when i get my new motor. Just wondering what you guys think?

i dont know much about the subies but from what i know is that they take off fast from a dead stop but will take MILES AND MILES to get to a higher speed. and a ls1 has a real nice powerband up top. so i say your be good from going on a highway roll.

Highway roll, no question. The STI is pushing about 300 and the AWD will have you off the line. as stated above an ls1 will take him up top

If he can drive it the way it needs to be driven he'll take you off the line(as already mentioned) but after that he'll see your tail lights.

Re: Ls1 3rd gen vs 2006 WRX Sti
A guy I know owns a 2004 turbo-charged STI WRX. He has raced several cars including a newer GTO. Most of the cars he has either beaten or was pulling up on. I've been in the car with him as he raced and even with me in the car and adding another 215lbs. he has done well. The STI is a fast car, and that AWD is good for sticking to the ground. So I wouldn't make fun of one of those cars because I know now what it is capable of.

STI's are fast, but you should beat him, if you are running right. I've taken several down from a dig or a roll, and can say that most LS cars have given me a better race......

Agreed. Whatever gain they get you on the launch you should be able to real them in and beat him soundly. Back in the day I raced my buds STI with my old 03 cobra and I missed every shift, blew the launch, and still murdered him by the time we hit the 1320. They are awesome cars but a 3rd gen with an LS1 is a mid 12 second car. Your average STI is mid 13 to high sec car.
