Almost... ate up an SI

Almost... ate up an SI
Well today on the way from work, Im cruising in my 92 RS. It loooks bone stock, completely stock suspension wheels and everything. But I have this under the hood.
Im still breaking in the clutch so I wanted too be easy on it. But on the way home this pretty clean lowered red SI with an exhuast was infront of me. He was driving a little too confidently, shifting hard and stayin on the gas pretty good. So I decided to give him a taste of American Muscle.
Im running an open Y-pipe right now so its pretty loud, I got right behind him and revved the LT1 up a bit. He decided to switch lanes letting me get right next too him. We were cruising around 40, and I was in second gear. No race was intitiated yet but I decided to snap the throttle just give him a little taste. A little more power then I expected! The whole rear end began too slip out, I quickly let off the gas and countersteered pulling it back in. I looked back over at him too see if he still wanted to go. He immediatly looked away and started slowing down driving like an old lady. At the next stop light he decided to turn instead of take up the race.
I must say, My stock "looking" RS is quite a sleeper.

Yeah he looked confused, like "I didnt think those rally sports were THAT fast" I saw he was wearing a Honda dealership technician shirt, hes prabably going to warn all the other honda guys in my town =[. I wonder how much power its pushing, all it has is headers, light weight crank pulley and a custom chip. (its from a 93 formula, still had the removable EPROM)

hahahaha funny stuff. Well Ill hopefully be gettin an exhuast on it this week so it will sound a little less intimadationg. This open Y-pipe is crazy. When I romped on it as soon as the tires broke loose all you here is the LT1 SCREAMING up too around 5k rpms in a split second.
At least that was a respectable honda too look at, fairly stock looking just lowered. The ones I want are the ones slammed with fart cans and GIANT VTEC decals.

No video, but it sounds great at idle and under no load, but in gear its just extremely loud. I wouldnt say a good loud either haha, just really loud.

Its pretty much stock other then the bolt-ons and chip. Im sure it can, I mean I break loose in 2nd all the time if I snap the throttle at 3500-4000 rpms.

Re: Almost... ate up an SI
Sounds like its time for a good exhaust, gears, and a cam
I raced one with just an intake and fart can, and it didnt even seem like a race, but this was with a modded 350.
Stock without mods, they usually seem to run high 14's or so. With mods and tuning, they can easily run 13's or better, which would be a match for an LS1 camaro.

Hey gotta ask, do you like that lt1? I MIGHT soon be getting my hands on a early lt1 and just curious if you like it and whatnot.

Re: Almost... ate up an SI
I like it, It was a BIG step up from the LO3. But I mean if I were going to do it again I would of gone LS. But even with the LT1 Im having trouble keeping traction even from a roll in 2nd.
