fiero's
I also wanted to know what a stock '86 Fiero GT/5-speed would do in the 1/4. They've always looked like fun cars to tinker with. I saw a Fiero with a stock supercharged 3.8 from a Grand Prix GTP and he was runnin mid 13's and getting 20mpg. Not bad...

A stock fiero should run in the mid 14's to low 15's. Don't fool yourself these cars are pretty quick but there more quick than fast these cars toped out very quickly.

Fiero's are fun as ****!! And by the way, no fiero came with anything bigger than a 2.8 n/a engine. Several people have swapped in HUGE engines though. I've even seen one with a 455(god knows how he got it in there). U can also by body kits and make them look like exotic sports cars too. What I thought was the funnest was I could take my 2.8/5sp around 90* corners at over 40 MPH!!! AND NOT CHIRP A TIRE. IT WAS INSANE! What a rush. Oh, then the power mirrors controller caught fire in my sister's garage. I pushed out in the street and the gas tank blew. Big BOOM! But these are the funnest little cars.
Actually, when GM approved them, they could only use parts GM had available at the time, the couldn't fabricate any new parts, so...
It's basically a 6cyl. firebird with a diff. trans. and 1500lb lighter. Oh, and a rear engine. Fun as **** though
------------------
14X3 o.e., functional formula hood(for sale in future), uhhh..., umm...
Am I the only person who believes a car has feelings, emotions, and a soul??

Car: 88 IROC
Engine: 350
Transmission: auto
My friend used to have a 5spd 4cyl back in highschool. They are very fun to drive and handle very well. The 4cyl are not too fast, but you can't get those things off the road. We tried to get it to drift at tight turns going pretty fast, and it just stays glued to the road like crazy. Probably because their engines are in the back, so they have a lot better weight distribution, and they don't weigh anything either.

86 gt 5 spd 3570 lbs(lots of options)
should run 1/4 in around 16.5 bone stock
the fastbacks put on alot of weight my 85 gt notchback weighs 2785 lbs should run the 1/4 in the 15's.
I do love these cars for there handling ability, there is nothing funner than being able to go up on ramps at 45mph with no body roll and knowing you can push it on up to 70 something and weave in and out of the other traffic on the ramp. I have never had the pleasure of an 88 formula or 88gt(best handling) but will one day. I have too many cars-lol

I had a 87 Fiero SE with 5 Speed and the 2.8L MPFI V-6 and in went 15.2XX at like 88 MPH. That car beat a lot of cars it shouldnt have.
I almost beat a 97 LT1 Z28 (A/T) with it. I was racing a girl I went to high school with. We went out on this road and went from a dead stop. She sat there smoking those tires and I took off and left her A$$! I was way ahead of her the whole way but right at the end, she went FLYING by me!! It was funny though.
THose cars are fun as heck. I want to build one with a S/C 3.8 in it. That would be a good sleeper car.

The manual transmission V6 Fieros were mid-14 cars. I know because I had a '85 2M6 from 1985 to 1995.
The 4 cylinder Fiero's were prone to fires, not the V6's. The reason that this even made news (they were simply the Iron Duke four cylinders used in other cars) was because the plastic bodies caught fire and could not be extinguished with water, only chemicals. This meant than many burnt to the ground if no one had a fire extinguisher handy or did not know that water didn't work.
I have to confess that the Fiero was the best overall car I have ever owned (and I have owned many). I'm sorry I sold it.

I regret selling mine also. However, I did sell it so that I could buy a Thirdgen Formula though.

The 1985 v-6 se 4spd was the fastest stock fiero made. the cars got heavier over the 5 years of production, My 1986 gt wieghs 3570 lbs. I love these little cars, they just cost too much to make go fast in straight line. They do handle very well and the handle even better if you correct the alignment to compensate for the understeer built into it. the 84 's caught fire because of faulty rods/blocks in the 2.5. the defective parts would cause oil to land on exhaust and then poof fire, then poof fuel lines then big fire.
I think they have their place, there is a park near where I live that the fastest I have been through it(very curvy) is around 50mph in my f-body's and around 70 in my fiero's
I have owned 6 1984 fiero's(now dead and used for parts) still have 1986 fiero gt, 1985 fiero gt, 1986 fiero se, 1985 fiero se, all v-6 models, the gt's have been stroked to 3.2l and put out over 200hp and over 200tq.
I also own 1984 ta HO 1984 ta, 1984 z-28, 1985 firebird v-6, 1986 firebird v-6, 1988 iroc-z and a 84 camero parts car. I have never bought anything else and don't plan on it.

Wether or not they are gay is a matter of opinion. What is not opinion is the fact that they have no problem beating a 305TBI Firebird.

the Yellow Fiero your refering to in Hot Rod does not have a 3.8 Grand National engine, it is a 3800 series Supercharged 3.8 from a Grand Prix GTP, everything in the engine is bone stock except for a smaller pulley and the guy is pushin mid 13 sec. time slips. Gotta love 'em especially ones with the 350 conversion, muah haha hahaha!

I am also a member of fiero-technet and gentleman off that list is claiming to be in the middle of a v-10 install(out of 99 dodge viper). The v-8 is easy to see going in but I really want to know about the v-10 how?
#20
I'd like to know how they're going to fit a viper v10 in there myself. A buddy of mine from High School built a 350 V8 Fiero when we were seniors. He bought a kit that slapped it right in. I got to drive it on a few occasions. Let me tell ya, a 300hp Fiero can be pretty scary. He smoked the transaxle in it about 5 months after finishing it. Didn't have the money to fix it (Like I said, we were in High School) and sold it. I remember that V8 being a pretty close fit.

The guy is an ase tech,
he claims it is in and running, sounds like he cut the trunk out and stretched the back fram 4 inch. He said that he will have pics up in 2-3 weeks after he is done with body I will post his pic link as soon as it is up. I would be more critical of him but, I am sure people were critical of archie before he did it. I guess it is just wait and see.

Actually, their closer to MR2's than Preludes. I think their one kickass package, definently fun to drive. And the V6 0-30 time is something like 2.6 or so seconds, very fun.
