Chirp in second?

I sat at a light spacing off, when someone honked behind me. So I took off at a fast rate, not spinning tires at all. My bone stock automatic 305 TBI then shifted into second and I heard a chirp from my tires. I never knew this was possible on a dry street. I've done it in the rain before, but never without almost flooring it. What is this world coming to? I also need some help from you guys. I need some ideas of mods for my 88 Firebird 305 TBI Auto. I want to be able to race someone. I usualy chicken out due to the lack of power. I WANT TO DO SOME STANG-KICKIN'!

i had my 3.73 posi put in and whoah, huge improvement. even with my new 16x8 wheels, i chirp into second. i definitely recommend this mod. also, a k&n 14x3 open-element filter helps a lot for the money, too.
