Well... you're packing 180+ Hp and the berettas only came with 2.8's I believe. Unless you have a defunct auto and he's got a stick and a couple turbos. I'd say you're pretty safe. Seriously though, I wouldn't even look over at a Beretta at a stoplight even with my LG4.

What about if it's a quad 4 Beretta? I believe those are rated at 180...

i can't see a Berretta having 180 HP, ESPECIALLY from a 4 banger

hate to tell ya guys, but the quad 4 beretta had 140 hp and the quad 4 HO had around 190. if its a quad 4 HO which was beretta gtz's and gtu's, you are screwed. they fly. specially with a 5 speed.

I would put serious money down betting its not a quad 4... never heard of that config though. But if you say so, I'm betting it was a rare option.

wasn't too incredibly rare, neat little cars, make for a decent sleeper, well, for the years they were produced anyways..

A GTU or GTZ would give ya a good run, i'd like to see it go down! Tough call, comes down to driver and condition/tuning i guess. That is IF its one of the "fast" ones anyway.

Are you driving or running? Cuz if you race him when you're on foot, just set the finish line on the other side of a big ditch

Whatever the Beretta has under the hood, it better be backed by a 5-speed. An automatic won't get the car out of the hole fast enough to be a real contender.

bloodred.....no hard feelings here, you need to log off the internet, get out of the house and see more races, even my V6,auto '93 mitsubishi 3000GT gets out of the hole fast enough to keep up with a '96 mustang GT 5-speed. I couldn't follow through with that race because of traffic, but I would have had the cornering advantage on that windy road.....also more importantly,it's not the car it's the driver!

No hard feelings at all, junkyarddog, and nice car. I wasn't referring to V-6's or automatics in general, but in relation to Beretta's.

For the record, I own a '96 Monte Carlo Z34 with 3.4 DOHC and 4-speed automatic and a few mods. My best kills with this car are a Porsche Boxster and a '97-up Grand Prix GTP.

I personally have a 1993 Beretta GTZ and can testify that the Quad4 DOHC HO is rated at 180hp. My personal car has a 225hp Quad4 that was built by Bilmar Auto in Daytona Beach, FL strictly for racing in the IMSA FireHawk series in the early 1990's...

Beware the GTZ's... They are really sneaky sleepers.

berettas can actually be pretty quick. there is this guy that goes to my school with a beretta he has all riced out. he thought the car was a piece of **** until he found out from the previous owner that it has a gt engine in it. after that he painted the interior, jacked up the rear end a little, put two stips of electrical tape down the driver side fender, and put on a crappy sounding fart tube, oh and i can't forget his honda 2 1/2 foot spoiler. even though it is american rice, it is still pretty quick.

That is Ok, Bilmar made 2.8s for the Berettas, 5.0s for the F-bodies (lots of Imsa and SCCA Escort championships), and the quad 4s (same) with extremely good results.
If you have one that needs parts or service, his first machinist quit rather than go to Florida, and can be reached at lattoff chevy in the chicago burbs. Ask for Joe Doss

I just found it.
I was searching for anything about my late father's company or his racing history. If anyone had any of Dad's motors that they needed support for, there isn't much, but a little of help is out there.
