how bad would i loose?

My car is not even done yet. but theres a kid with a "stage 2" srt-4 and hes always saying how hed beat my old shitty camaro. i have a 350 4 bolt mains .40 over, 292 comp cam .501 lift, some old ported and polished dart torker heads, edelbrock performer intake, edelbroke 650 carb. 5 speed with 3.08 gears. i dont know what a stage 2 entails, but from my undersgtanding those neons are quick. i mean even if i lost the kid is still driving a dodge neon, so whos the real loser? lol Im kidding but i was just curious. the previous owner of this motor said it made 400 crank horsepower with a different carb.

Re: how bad would i loose?

Dont know if your familiar with the SRT8 Chargers, but my nephew had an 05 neon srt4 with stage 2,and his friend has a srt charger, the neon would run with the charger from a roll. From a dig they have serious launching problems.I wouldnt take him too lightly if he can drive. He had to do some serious power shifting to keep up with the charger but he did it.By keep up I mean MAYBE half a car length back.My nephew traded the neon in on a srt8 Jeep lol.The neon was fun but too many problems.

Re: how bad would i loose?

ok im just getting an idea. im gunna say i have well over 300rwhp. but this kid is a 17 year old smartass and im sure i can drive better. i just dont wanna be that guy talking **** and his little srt4 walks past me. i knew a kid that had a pretty serious one with barely any mods, figured id ask. so a stage two neon is like a low 13 high 12s vehicle?

Ehh,maybe. They have serious issues hooking up at the track unless u put some slicks on and aftermarket axles. If you have 400 horse then you probably will win.RUN FROM A DIG!!! you will walk away im sure lol.

Pretty much has every little detail. Stage 2 has about 265 HP . Wonder what that does for its already decent 5.9 sec 0-60. Curb weight 2950

Re: how bad would i loose?

My buddy has a 2004 srt4 with bigger injecters, a aftermarket baby turbo, bov , headers w/ cutoff valve, and a stage 2 clutch. His is fast but I beat him with my 350 sbc 4 bolt main with 190cc heads, 750cfm carb, .488 lift cam, stock crank rods and pistons, 255gph fuel mechanical fuel pump w/ a regulator @ 5psi , t400 tranny and 2.73 rear end w/ custom aluminum driveshaft.

But his is still fast and the baby turbo helps him spool faster so hes at max boost the whole time

I owned a 2004 srt-4 which i put stage 2 on if he runs hom high octane mode and is a good driver the car on street tires should run low to mid 13's from a dig he should be able to catch you and from a roll forget about it i now own a 89 formula l98 and it would not even be close the srt would walk me good luck

Re: how bad would i loose?

I think in a race like this you'd do whatever you can to embarass him. its just not good enough beating him by a nose.

Srt's are fast but if he had 400rwhp, he would beat one with the stock turbo/cam. If there is any serious work done to the srt-4 it will probably win.. I'm pretty sure they were considered the fastest land 4 cyl. up until like 2006 or 2007. But, they have some of the worst launch lag... and their axles snap a lot. Your best best is to get 400RWhp, and race him from a dig (preferably a track). You will rape him off the line, the only way he won't catch up to you in 2nd or 3rd is if you're power shifting hard. Once that thing gets max boost, its gone.. But if he launches with max boost... thats like 2-3 seconds gone right there from him spinning tires.

Srt-4 stock power is 230 and they aren't that light, so he would need a considerable amount of upgrades to beat a good built 350. Stage 2 would be intake, headers, exhaust, stage 2 turbo/bov, aftermarket downpipe , aftermarket intercooler, and I'm pretty sure for it to be considered stage2 it needs a new cam, that might be stage 3 though.

Re: how bad would i loose?

stage two only consist of bigger injectors inter-cooler sprayer different computer and hom (high octane mode) which increases your timing and makes a pretty big difference, stock exhaust and stock turbo. on street tires on stage two i could pull 2.0 to 2.1 60ft times and on drag radials 1.8 so that is not to bad for front wheel drive also you can take those turbos all the way up 19lbs of boost no problems on stock clutch and trans if you guys race please post results good luck man hope you take him

If thats all a stage 2 is, you should definately win. but he is right 20 psi is easy with that baby turbo and it spools QUICK.
