90 IROC vs 90 5.0

Ok what do you all think the outcome would be?

My car is a 90 IROC, 350 TPI bone stock.
My friends car is a 90 Mustang 5.0 LX Hatchback 5 speed also bone stock
Both cars are within 2,000 miles of each other on the odometer.

thanks.

Close race. If the performance data in the old articles section of this site is accurate, the IROC will edge out the rustang.

Probably the IROC...the auto will be simpler to launch and that's what will win the race between two cars so equal.

Really close. Biggest factors will be the drivers and who has there car in tune the best. If you haven't changed your spark plugs in a while and kept up little **** like that then you could easily loose. But so could he if his isn't running 100% to spec like when it was new. Your talking about two cars that brand new were about a tenth off each other and we all know how easy it is to make a small f*ck up to cost you a couple tenths.

86 IROC-ZZ4... too much to list.

well we ran, here's how the race went down...

We lined up and went from a 40mph roll...i immediately put a car on him from the get-go, and pulled him all the way until he let out at 110...i had three cars on him at that point and was still pulling.

We're gonna go from a dead stop next time.

you should take him even MORE from a dead stop... the IROC just hooks up a little better, has more torque down low, and has better gears out back.
like mentioned, get your car tunedup to 100% then do a few of the 'free mods' in the tech section and get a catback and build a ram air.
then you'll be eating him alive. well, not alive. whatever.

I'm not counting racing from a roll. Going from a standstill heads up it's going to come down to driver. The Camaro will be easier to launch but the Mustang has a better gear ratio spread b/c of the 5-speed. The Mustang is also lighter. It's also possible that the cars have the same rear end ratio. Try and get a flagger to start the race and get someone to mark the 1/4. Also do all the free mods as suggested above.

his car is a 3.08 car, mines a 3.23...im pretty sure it would be uglier from a stop.

Its not a driver issue, mine is just clearly the faster car.
